  1. ^^^^

Very well stated. LN and Flat 6 keep meticulous records and their install and success rate numbers are great. I just had my IMSB retrofitted up at Flat 6 Innovations in Georgia due in part to the success numbers.

My dual row bearing in my 996 was in exceptional shape with 117,000 miles. But, peace of mind is now what I have.

To me, putting a superior part in a place that can cause superior problems if failed just made sense.

Bottom line, if you can afford the LN bearing I would bite the bullet and do it right the first time.

  2. Heya,

I will post pics when I put em on again, they are in desperate need of new tires, and I have em off waiting for the new tires. As for fit i they went on no problem at all, had zero rub. One thing I did notice was that the speedometer was off when i tested em out. The tires on the rears are 295/30/18. The wheels are beautiful, I actually have an extra set of rears, but they are et45 so for a wb.

Funny that you bring up the speedometer issue. Mine was spot on, gps checked, when I had 19" wheels on my 2000 996. I just went back to stock spec'd 18" wheels and speedometer is reading 5mph high compared with gps. How does one calibrate a Porsche speedo? Dealer thing?

  3. MY02 Cab MURDERED OUT

Love the matte wrap! Looking sweet.

Let me ask a question since I have you here. My 2000 has the same wing as yours with the same stock front bumper cover. I am headed to my first DE next week and have read that the car may be squirrelly at speed due to the downforce at the rear and lack of at the front. What speeds are you comfortably running at on the straights?

  4. Busch Enterprises out of North Carolina makes a product called Clear Coat Remover made just for rims. www.buschshineproducts.com.

Brush it on; let dwell, then rinse off.

It's the right tool for the job. It doesn't require the removal or covering of the tire.

Afterwards, polish. Make sure you remove the polish residue (alcohol, naptha) before reclearing, since many metal polishes will leave a polymer coating behind that will prevent the clear from adhering.

    Good luck.

  5. I hate to restart and bump a thread but I have tire fitment question. I just ordered new rims to replace my 19's on my 2000 996 C2. I have gone to 18's this time around. Now, my question is, what size tires to get for the new wheels. I couldnt find a reverse calculator online to compute it.

    My new wheel sizes are:

    18" x 8.5 Front ET 52

    18" x 10 Rear ET 58

Suspension is completely stock. Thanks for any help guys!

  6. Those will clean up just fine. My process is to dry sand then wet sand. Final step is polish and re-clear. The kits in the store will work pretty well. The failure point of the kits is the sealant or coating. It will not last very long. Once you abrade off the factory UV coating it will yellow and haze eventually. I use actual clear coat on my clients lights...and my own 996. Give the kits a try.
