  1. Has anyone opened up one of the uhaul adapters to see what magic is inside besides the transition from 7 to 4?

    It also fools the Cayenne into thinking it is hooked up to a trailer with incandescent bulbs. The Cayenne is programmed to expect a trailer that sucks up a certain amount of current to power its bulbs. LEDs use much less current so the Cayenne will incorrectly conclude that one or more bulbs are burned out and will throw a "!" on the display. The U-haul gadget prevents that from happening.

    In fact even on a trailer with incandescent bulbs if you have too many or too few bulbs and depending on the wattage of the bulbs installed the Cayenne may or may not throw a "!" on the display.

  2. Atomic,

    Sorry you are not getting the response you were hoping for.

    I see a couple of problems with this deal:

    1. Few people would want to buy something sight unseen. I know you said a replica of the turbo wheel. Still, people want to see the quality and finish. Also it is hard to imagine the turbo wheel in 22". Will the spokes be longer and the hub proportionately larger? Will it be badly executed when it is scaled up to 22"?

    2. No name brand, no safety certification, no weight estimate, no specs, no timetable. What exactly am I buying? If Im going to take these wheels to 130mph they'd better be structurally sound.

    If you can provide more info perhaps you will get a better response.

  3. The changer is plug'n play. They cost around $700 but try ebay. No they do not play mp3's, and yes you can use both the dash player and the changer.

    They sometimes also have trouble playing burned (homemade) audio CDs. Some of my CDs work and some don't - haven't figured out yet why.

    Pressing the CD button on the PCM repeatedly will alternate between the in-dash player and the changer.

    It's been a while and you got only one response so far so I thought I'd try to help. Sorry I don't have the answer but I suggest that you search the Cayenne forum at Rennlist (http://forums.rennlist.com/) because this issue has been discussed quite a bit there.

    However, most of the problems reported were associated with pre-2006 models. I don't recall any MY2006 owners reporting this problem yet (knock on wood).

    Solutions ranged from getting a software update to replacement of the transmission control module to driving it hard to force the computer to relearn your driving style.

    Good luck and let us know how it is eventually solved.

    Mine works the same way (2006 Cayenne S).

    I have the two-zone automatic. I switch it off before I turn off the engine and it does turn itself back on when I start again later. I've read the manual carefully and did not find anything about this.

    It would be on at the lowest blower setting.

    This "feature" has been bugging me lately too and I'm wondering if something is broken. If it was intentional you'd think Porsche would say something about it in the manual. I've tried it with automatic recirculation on and off and it behaves the same way.

    When your tech "re-programmed the head unit" did he just reflash your system software with whatever latest version or was there a specific modification done to modify this "feature"?
