  1. @moosy

You've got a dodgy connector somewhere...

It's not fuse related because you say guage cluster lights

    are powering on intermitantly.

Always handy to find information that details all the related

electrical equipment that's connected to that circuit. This

is useful for checking out faulty earth connections, that can

    have an effect.

I haven't worked on Porsche, so I can't offer you any specific

    information.

However, your symptoms are very similar to faults I've come

across on other vehicles, where the headlight switch has been

at fault. On most vehicles it's a multi-function switch providing

a signal to other electrics, like dashboard ...

Just suggesting some routes you could explore to find the fault,

maybe a Porsche owner who's experienced your fault can relate

to this, because often all cars have their common faults.

  2. hi loren , same problem ,no code

    Hi Loren ,

thanks for all the help i really appreciate it!

    Try 8232 ...................

  3. 1998 Boxster

    CDR-210

    s/n 226012516272081353

    thanks!

Is this the serial number appearing on the display,

    after following instructions here?

It appears that you have a Becker barcode for the BE2260. However,

Becker barcodes are normally 15 digits long, also including letters.

(In saying that, I haven't physically seen a BE2260's label)

If you have removed the radio from the dash, quote the :-

    Model Number: eg BE 2260

    and

the 8 digit alphanumeric serial number, eg. 15006256 or V5001245

    from the label.

Just need to make sure got correct serial number.

    Cheers.

  4. I have a 2002 996 TT, Becker 1, 4462, sn. Y5043212. Installed a battery yesterday and get nothing but a WAIT message on the radio. The code that came with my car says 8291 but it didn't work.

    Use code 8 2 9 4

Switch your ignition key to the 'ACC' position

'accessory position' where battery light shows

    on dashboard.

Power up radio - leave undisturbed - without

touching any buttons. (Touching any buttons will

    reset timer from beginning again)

The radio will reset allowing for another code

    entry.

Refer to FAQ for further information.

And... let me know how you get on...

    Cheers.

  5. Hi Pete

    Excellent work!

I did a bit of self training on Photoshop,

using the DVDs of Chris Orwig, who I highly recommend as

an author for passing on training information on Photoshop.

He was so good, I feel as if I know the man.

With Chris Orwig's help and Photoshop, anyone can transform

images of their photo-genic Porsche into exciting

    images, like you have done.

Any google search will locate Chris Orwig.

    Cheers.

  6. Going to have some work done that may involve disconnecting the battery, I think it maybe a good idea to have it just in case.

My serial number is WSO18669, thank you ahead of time. Oh, and it's a Becker CDR-210.

    Try 9928

    or

    9926

If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so...

Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST

Okay, I just recently disconnected the battery, and after reconnecting, I tried both of those and they don't work, perhaps my serial number is actually W5018669? Would that yield different results? The digital display makes it weird to decipher the serial number. Again, thanks in advance!

    Hello Kojiro

Your serial number is showing as

    unrecognised.

Please remove your stereo from the dash

and post the serial number printed on

the label or stamped on the metal casing.

    Post the details here.

    Cheers.

    Edit:

    Sent messege to friend regarding

SN provided, not showing on my system.

Friend reckons code should be 9513 for SN provided.

    Failing that, previous comments apply.

  7. Got one for a MY 99' I am trying to figure out..

    Tp. Pcm

    Mod BE 2562

    Ser X5008164

    Anyone?

    TIA!

With all due respect, your question has been answered in the

previous post, and in the FAQ post.

However, I'll offer some advice for your benefit and the

    community.

Although I haven't seen BE2562 specifically, it belongs to the

range of navigation systems BE2560, BE2580 and BE2582. These

units are all manufactured jointly between Becker and Siemens

These units require two codes. The first one requested is the

Siemans code, to unlock Sieman's protection. The second code

requested, unlocks Beckers protection. You will notice two

serial numbers on the unit - Siemens and Becker.

Only Porsche, Alfa Romeo and Lancia have access to the Siemans codes

based on Siemens serial number. Access to this database is not

    available from any other source.

So, the best advice is to contact Porsche, where they will provide

both the Siemens code and the Becker code.

I'm saying all this, because I've heard of these units being

    unintentionally LOCKED through owners entering

multiple Becker codes for the first code requested. In this

situation it may be very difficult for the main dealer to help

you, or at least very expensive.

So the short answer is... contact Porsche. And the long answer

    ............is still the same

    Cheers.

Thanks for the quick answer, but it doesn't work.

I've checked the Model & Serial No. another time, they're right.

    What can i do?

I've forgot to say that the car is currently in germany, but it's from US

    (5 speed manual)

    Thank You

    Just checked,

    you're not far off..

    Use code 6876

Let me know how you get on....

    Cheers.

  9. Hello Loren,

Can you check this code again? The 4497/4495 did not work. I also tried 4493 4491 4499 4501 as you suggested (up by 2).

    2000 Boxster 2.7

    5 speed manual

    US = LHD

    Becker 1

    CDR220/CR220

    Type 4462

    Serial y5040626

    Hello John

    Thanks for your feedback

    Now try code 5497

Please let me know how you get on...

    Your feedback is appreciated regardless

    Cheers.

  10. I just ordered a Durametric to check out why my car (05 996 Turbo S, FVD Flash & Exhaust) is only see .5 bar. No faults or CEL, but on under the Durametric "Ready Status" it shows "Catalytic Converter Efficiency - Fail". Anyone have an idea what this might be?

    Thanks

    post-50506-099607900 1281986640_thumb.jp

I'm not familiar with the Durametric diagnostic tool.

But.. can I ask under what conditions you ran the test.

Catalytic Converters don't run under optimum efficiency

    unless they are very hot.

Your efficiency test will be a measure of this.

Yes it true, that the O2 sensor will become less

efficient long before being indicated by the CEL.

You may have a better idea as to when it was last changed.
