  1. Thanks for this link: It would appear that what I'm looking for is the KEY CAP: 99653842301 ? This is the valet/spare everyone refers to that can be coded to start the car? Is there any restrictions with this or will the car drive properly with one? I'm just looking for something to put away in case I lose my one good working remote. I do realize it needs to be coded by the dealer. I just don't want to spend $375 for another remote that's not going to get used. I already have the blade and it is cut and fits the door, glove box and turns the ignition (obviously doesn't start). Hope I've been clear. Honestly I've been searching here, rennlist and google for HOURS. :)
  2. Not sure my dealer knows what I'm talking about, or perhaps I don't. I just want a basic key that has the immobilizer that will start/run/drive the car. I do not need the remote part. My locksmith can cut the key blade. Will this head work? http://www.vertexauto.com/ShowItem/145340%20Porsche%20Key%20Head.aspx Or does someone have a part number for a keyfob head that has the immobilizer pill in it that can be programmed by the dealer? Thanks ... I've seen tons of threads on this, just no part numbers. Some people just say "ask for spare key" or "ask for valet key", dealer seems to be having issues. Thanks
  3. Ok if anyone else reads this thread, it really is quite easy once you understand. At first I thought they would be recessed which is why I had a hard time. You can tug the carpet up quite easily and see them. They are right along the "ridge". You can feel them through the carpet as they protrude. Carpet cuts quite easy with a fresh blade on a box cutter. Hope it helps the next guy.
  4. That carpet is thick. I can't feel anything. Is it easy to remove the carpet and put it back in ... or ... any chance of markings in the carpet itself that make it obvious where to cut? Thanks btw :)
  5. Does anyone know where I can find the child seat anchor in the parcel shelf? I've read on herre it exists and you need to cut the carpet, I'd just hate to butcher it trying to find it. A picture or diagram would be great. It's a '99 coupe. Thanks
  6. Thanks, I just picked up a '99 ... probably the last thing I should have done was come to the forums and read the horror stories. :) I'm sure I'll have lots of things to post soon. :)
  7. Will a dealer tell me if there has been any major warranty repairs, such as a replaced engine if I supply them the VIN? How to find out? thanks
