  1. Thanks, would a typical alignment shop know how to check the steering angle sensor, or is that going to be a job for a dealer and/or Porsche specialist?
  2. Does my '04 C4S Cab require any unusual equipment for an alignment, or can I expect that any decent shop with modern alignment equipment can do the job correctly? Thanks in advance for you help.
  3. Sorry, I neglected to mention that I already read all the old posts on this subject, and no one else seemed to have an issue quite like mine. Assuming the plus sign on the fluid tank on my car is the full mark, mine is full. When I took the car apart to look for a hydraulic problem, I quickly saw that somehow one of the bolts (part #996 561 245 00) that connects the convertible top to the hydraulic piston on the right side of the car was missing, as well as the safety clip (part# 999 166 076 02) that is supposed to keep the bolt from turning out and disconnecting. I ordered the parts from the local dealer, and everything seems fine now. BTW, the parts diagram on Porsches website is confusing. It seems to show that each hydraulic cylinder uses two of these bolts, but actually the two bolts used with each cylinder are very different from each other. When you order the first part number above, they give you BOTH bolts…not an inexpensive part at 37 dollars! Many thanks for your help.
  4. Something is wrong with the top on my '04 C4S Cabriolet. I can open and close it, but it's not working in the manner it used to. When opening the top, the opening sequence stops when the top is at it's highest point(the front "windshield" end of the top is straight up in the air). Nothing happens for 5 to 8 seconds, and then all of the sudden the top "falls" into the cavity where it is stored when open, and the car finishes the balance of the top opening sequence normally. It happens every time. The closing sequence is normal, except when the top starts to raise out of its "storage cavity" the driver's side (left hand drive USA car)starts to rise first. It sort of looks like the passenger side hydraulic lift is starting late or is not as strong as the driver's side. Any ideas what the fix is? Thanks in advance for your help.
  5. Thanks Loren. The light still has never come back on, so I'm guessing the water from washing the car somehow temporarily created a short in the circuit, which turned the light on. Are there 4 sensors on this car, or just two (one per axle) as with my Mini? Thanks again!
  6. I have just 17k miles on my '04 C4S, and when I was driving the car immediately after washing it, I noticed the brake pad warning light was on. I'm not sure if it was on immediately after washing the car, or if it came on a short time later. The car has generally not been driven hard at all, so I'm a bit suprised that I would need new pads after only 17k miles. Even more surprising is that I've driven the car several times since then, and the light has never come back on. I'm not familiar with Porsche brakes, but on my Mini Cooper when the light came on, it was on permanently until I replaced the sensor wire. From reading Loren's instructions on how to replace pads, it appears that my C4S uses a similar type sensor wire (that must be replaced if the brake pad light was turned on). Has anyone had the same experience as me? Could washing the car somehow have turned on the warning light? Also, do also 4 wheels have sensor wires? On my Mini, there was only one sensor per axle. Thanks in advance for your help.
  7. Did mine tonight...a bit of difficulty taking apart the relay, but completely done now and sounds excellent! And the "quiet" button on the dash still works so I don't upset the neighbors.
