  1. That's tough.. There are a lot of companies that prey on us Porsche folks. You have to do so much research before you buy anything....Ask me how I know..:cursing:

Doesn't sound like they will be in business too long.. And now people have been warned..

Yeah, I learned a hard lesson but GOD I want this unit to work... Not just a rearview camera but we also have an XBOX 360 and PS3 wired under the back seats for the kids and it would be incredible to get it to show on the Nav screen for the front adult 'kids'. Also thinking about the FLIR camera upgrade (I hear it is very cool).

Problem is I don't want to put an aftermarket screen on the dash or anything that will spoil the gorgeous interior look.

If anyone knows of a similar unit give me a heads up. I think they are the only one though.

  2. Just in case someone is thinking of buying from these guys I wanted to share my 'saga' with the group.

Went online and researched a few Bluetooth units and other things. Came across these guys and decided to go with them as they had a 'Video in Motion' module which it stated you can use to convert your NAV screen to video source (rearview camera and three other AV feeds)... Nice right? Ordered that and the Bluetooth unit $1500.00 plus about $150.00 in Canadian duty.

Units arrive and what they fail to mention is it literally requires you to take apart the entire PCM Head Unit and directly wire a circuit board INSIDE it and reroute the video cables and other parts. Beyond me, Beyond my installer, Beyond 4 other companies I took it too.

Bottom line nobody was going to take apart a $6000.00 head unit and rewire the electronics inside particullary when the instructions they send are hand made on an inkjet printer with fuzzy pictures and hand written arrows pointing at other fuzzy things. Very frustrated and pissed off but I finally took it to my authorized Porsche dealer and after begging (literally) they agreed to have a senor mechanic try.

6 hours later and two phone calls down to incartronics.com as they 'walk' them through it and nothing is working. Finally they figure out that they sent the wrong unit (so they say) and they tell my dealer to send the whole unit, wiring and gear back down WITH the PCM and they will try to install it. Like they are going to send a $6000.00 electronic unit to some guy in Atlanta on the hope that it will get there and returns in one piece (or at all). They refused to pay the shipping, refused to give anything to my dealer for wasting their time or give me anything other then their 'valuable time' to install it for me.

I am out $750.00 plus $100.00 in duty for the unit. $1000.00 to my dealer for their time and I still have to buy something that will work for a rearview camera so I don't drive over one of our little kids...

    www.incartronics.com... Stay away, far away...

  3. Ok, so im a newbie with the cayenne. THis is my porsche entry level learning curve. I recently bought a 2004 cayenne turbo with navigation. There a few things I wish my cayenne had that it does not. First and foremost bluetooth. I am on verion 3.0 on a cd based navi unit. I do not have the phone answer and hang up buttons on the navi units left side. I care more about the bluetooth phone function which the dension does not support bluetooth since i guess there is no phone system. I would like to know if the DVD based systems with the phone buttons will just be a plug and play conversion or is there software and dealer support needed? If anyone has any advice, i would love to know what i can do. Also what is necessary to add a homelink system to this car. I would assume just simply the ovehead unit since it should be standalone that only requires power and ground. THirdly, my vehicle does not have a auto headlight setting. Is there a retrofit, or if i were to leave the headlights switched on all the time, will it kill the cars battery or is it smart enough to kill power to the system on its own after a certain time. Unfortunately my last vehicles have been bmws and this is my first venture into porsches.

I have the same year and model. Check out http://www.incartronics.com/Porsche.html which has a unit which will accomplish what you want. The only other option I am aware of is the Gateway 500 system. Both are more or less the same price. I am having the itronics unit put in next week and will tell you how it goes.

    Good luck
