  1. Well, I took my "new" 00 Boxster to get inspected for the first time today. I live in New Jersey. They failed me for two things. First, they said they were unable to communicate with the OBD. That is what they now do as the inspection for pollution. I have no problems I know of and my check engine light tests normally. They also said my fuel cap failed a leak test. Any advice? I really don't want to take the car to a dealer for this. It seems to be running fine. Thanks, Jon
  2. Hi, Can someone tell me if my 00 Boxster has a cabin air filter. If so, where the heck is it? Do people change them at some interval? Thanks, Jon
  3. Let us know what you wind up having to pay to get the key cut and programmed. To me $120 seems like a lot. Jon
  4. Hi, My 2000 Boxster has this option listed as installed from the factory... 413 - 18" Turbo-Look Wheels I'm not sure what these should look like but I have 255/40 17 P tires on my car and it would seem to conflict with the option. Can someone who has these wheels post or send me a picture? Thanks, Jon
  5. Hi, I need to get an esaypass for my 2000 Boxster. Is there any metal in the windshield of the Boxster that should make me get the easypass that bolts to the license plate? When I drove it home from the purchase, it(my other car's easypass) didn't work on the PA Turnpike holding it in the window. Thanks, Jon
  6. Hi, I have a 2000 Boxster and it does not have the factory OBC. Here is my question...Does the outside temperature display under the MPH display on a non OBC car? If mine is displaying the temp does it mean someone enabled OBC in the computer but didn't install the controls? Thanks, Jon
  7. Can anyone help me piece together my Boxsters original configuration? Here is what I have figured out so far. Any pieces to the puzzle would also be appreciated. TIA, Jon At the top of the sticker in the maintenance manual is the VIN Followed by 986 310 which is the model(correct?) The next line says… M9622-65Y C8601-002 (any idea what it means?) The next Line has L2B4 53 in large type. The 53 is the color Forrest Green Metalic - $3010 Next are the following option codes. I have filled in what I can find. XE8 XE9 236 – 18” alloy wheels 413 - 18" Turbo-Look Wheels - $2735 437 - power seat left 438 - power seat right 446 - wheel caps w/colored crests - $170 454 - cruise control - $560 490 - Hifi sound w/6 spkrs and base reflex in doors - $600 502 535 - remote control alarm - $610 537 551 - Porsche Windstop (Deflector) $365 584 696 - AM/FM radio w/CD player - $345 981 983
  8. HI, I'm in the process of buying a 2000 Boxster from an individual in a state that only has a rear plate. Is there a bracket for a front plate(I live in New Jersey -2 plate country). Is this something the original owner should have? If I need to buy one I assume the dealer is the place to go. Cost? Thanks, Jon
  9. Hi, I am a new 2000 986 owner. I was wondering if there was any way to get a list of the options that the car originally shipped with? Basically, can I reproduce the window sticker for the car? Obviously, I have the VIN. TIA, Jon
