    Hi everyone.

    I've found this thread from searching as I've had the same problem with a snapped cam chain, I've only just started breaking the engine down to find out what had happened, this what I discovered.

    Marcm, what was the outcome from your engine failing, did you ever rebuild it? Would be great to know how you got on.

    I'm looking to rebuild myself so all help would be appreciated.

    Hello, I have a 2002 996 Targa and get a very loud grinding noise coming from the fron the car when I turn left or right while giving it gas in turns, but when I turn through corners and do no give it gas their in no noise! Also if I accelerate hard from a standstill it also makes that same noise when turning. Do is this a sign of a fron wheel bearing being shot? I have check the front suspension and everything else seems to be fine. thanks

    did you find out what the problem was, I have the same noise only in the rear
