Colorado driveshaft and 2 hours. Easy fix. Just one hint. Put the rear attachment on first and thread the bolts before you set the part tight the the back attachment point. Had to pull apart to get lined up. When dry fitting everything the rear attachment was compressed in and difficult to pull out and line up with the bolt holes.

Resolved... So the negative ground from the battery to car had a little corosion hidden at the bolt and between the terminal and the frame. ran the car with all the electronics on and fan and lights and radio... found the ground strap getting warm and problem solved...

thanks for the updates. Porsche put in the battery so i am hoping they got it right. i cross checked the first 2 after market and they were correct.
the car is garaged all the time and i do not hear any fans or pumps running. I am going to let porsche take a look at it. they dropped the ball last time by just throwing a new battery in it... so we shall see...
i did all the basic stuff... and check the connections in the battery box.. all tight.
and car is 100% factory original...

do check your cooling system... when my cooling tank went is was due to a faulty waterpump... Hard to work out as the motor ran a little warm but no too hot.. finally worked it out but wasted a week messing with it after work.

I have a 2004 cayenne S with 56,000 miles. drive it almost everyday to work and back. 7 miles... each way.
i have had the water pipes done and then the transmission seals. 45,000 miles
other than that no problems.
in July 2011 put in new batter.
i dec. 2011 put in another new battery.
on march 22 the Dec. battery died.
quick jump start and took to dealer.
tested and dealer said bad battery - not porsche quality.
about 3 weeks later porsche battery dead.
so. jump start and off to dealer. at dealer battery just had enough juice to start the car. so charging system is working as it was only 10 miles to dealer. ran A/C on the way. Amp meter shows 14amp charge and all electrical worked fine once the car was running.
any ideas???
i after reading other reports, i remved the bose sub from where the spare tire would be an there is not a second battery. i am 100% positive of this.

what did you find out? i am having the same issue with my 04 S... battery last summer, batter in Dec. and the last battery lasted 3 weeks from porsche. charge is good. had to get a jump, drove to dealer and battery was charged enough to start the car.

Recently purchased a 2004 Cayenne S and other than a couple of issues, I am extremely pleased with the vehicle. I looked through the TSB's and read the one on trouble shooting the TPMS and tried to read all the posts on the TPMS in the forums. Mine is showing lines instead of pressures and saying that the Monitoring is off system is learning. It stays on this pretty much all the time. I have turned it on and off several times to no avail. I am guessing that the batteries in the sensors at the wheel are likely dead. I would ordinarily just leave it off but instead of a spare tire I got the Bose box where it should be. Doing some research it looks like these sensors run anywhere from 80-125 and are apparently not serviceable (ie batt change). Is this the likely problem being the care is 6 years old? Is there a way to check and see if they are transmitting?
The airbag fault was traced to the connector under the seat by the previous owner. It's obviously out of warranty but we have a few local Indy shops that specialize in Porsche and they tracked it down for him. I found this, but I don't know that my local dealer will fix it without a warranty (doubtful since I purchased it from an individual)Air bag light Porsche Cayenne .
The only other weird bit is that one of my keys overspins the starter (starter spins after engine is started for a second). One key works fine and I have never seen or heard about anything like it before.

there was a problem with the 2004 keys when they first came out. It is a problem with the programing in the key fob. you may have a bad fob. does this happen everytime you try to start the car? if you receive excellence, there is a great article on the 03-06 cayenne that will tell all the stuff you need to know... the starter is very expensive to repalace. if the key fob is causing this i would replace the key or not use. the cost of the fob with old key installed is nothing compared to a starter.

getting ready to sell my2004 cayenne s and wonder what is the best place to list her? 106k, new front end, new air pumps, new rotors, recent drive shaft, coolant pipes done. silver with full black leather interior, bose, sunroof, new headliner in suede like the 911's. great car but my wife says i have too many. was planning on keeping her but it is the cayenne or the 911... so easy choice.
also have a full set of factory manuals. the 28? binder set.
if this is wrong place to ask this let me know. i guess it looks like an ad but it is really a question. thank, m
