  1. HELP!!! Update: Dealership called and said that the car starts and runs no problem. As well, there are NO error codes stored. He wanted to know what stuff I have added to the car: Hard wired Radar Whistler Detector Dension (or similar...actually Viseeo) Bluetooth receiver LED Lighting Do you see any of these things causing this kind of problem? If not, I'm going to be ankle deep into diagnostic costs. PS - And guess what, the dealer couldn't explain why the car would run fine after the first reported error but before they replaced the 'damaged' parts. Did I already say help?
  2. Attached is an image of the original problem / resolution I had on my 2006 Cayenne S. I got it back on the 19th of this month (last Thursday). Yesterday (7/25) the same problem happened (started but threw multiple errors on start up. I stopped the engine and it would not restart). When I called the dealership, they agreed to have it towed. Although it hasn’t been diagnosed yet again, they did say that there must be more problems than the Tyco fuse and Airbag Control unit. My questions: When my car first threw errors last week, but before the tow truck came, the car would sometimes start with no error codes whatsoever. If a Tyco fuse (pyrotechnically designed to trip in a accident) blows, why would I have been able to periodically run the car with no errors? Does it make sense that I would have the exact same problem, even after a $1,000 USD part was replaced? I do not have the original error codes. I am just really worried it is going to be a $5,000 fix on top of my $2,200 original 'fix' ... and in the end, I will not feel comfortable that the car is reliable enough to drive to a customer's site, the grocery store or even take it on vacation. Any thoughts?
  3. So my dealer just got back to me. The problem is that a Tyco cutoff switch went and the airbag control unit. Toal cost $2,200 for the repair. Does this make sense with the symtoms I described above, including the clunk I head just before things went astray? And yes, the coolant pipe quote was $2,570 + tax. Looks like I will just schedule it with my indy ... at his convenience. Don - Do you have a good Indy that you work with ... all be it near Spring Lake
  4. I have an indy who does some of my work but he is a one man show. Very hard to schedule. Re my car... Dealership called and said it is a canbus error. He asked if I added anything new lately. I told his LED lights and a Bluetooth receiver but that was months ago. Could one of those cause so many problems?
  5. So I am going to bring the Cayenne to the dealer today...flat bed of course. Depending on the repair, I may also try to negotiate a price to replace the plastic coolant pipes. What should be my price point? Thnx
  6. I seem to recall a few posts where the poster said it was a matter of first removing the mirror. I also recall that it was a little un-nerving becuase it involved pulling rather hard to get it off. Check more posts ... I think you will find it. PS - I didn't change those lights on mine
  7. So I leave my house in my 2006 S (Titanium Edition) and I get about 300 meters from my driveway when I hear a clunk as I as accelerating from a stop. Immediately after I get these errors: PSM Failure Brake Proportioning Low Oil Tach wildly fluctuating I pull over and shut off the car to avoid further damage. When I try to restart, same errors as well the car says press brake pedal, which I did. No Start Battery was replaced 4 months ago so I know its good. Had the oil changed 2 weeks ago by indy. Need to call AAA to get it towed to dealership. Just curious what anyone might think happened ... and how much lighter my wallet might feel at the end.
  8. Well I decided to get the remote mount radar detector. Any help / sugestions on where / how to run the cables through the firewall? Someone mentioned a plate where the clutch would be? Thanks!
  9. Curiious if anyone has the Whistler PRO-3600 radar detector? http://www.whistlergroup.com/laser-radar-detectors-pro-catalog/pro-3600-laser-radar-detectors-product.aspx?id=280
  10. I know...I know... But they are supposed to have better performance and emmisions.
  11. Just curious if anyone has tried E3 spark plugs in their Cayenne?
  12. I installed a cold air intake and cat bypass. Power increase was minimal but I love the sound that the mods had on the exhaust. Cat bypass: http://www.ebay.com/itm/955-Porsche-Cayenne-S-secondary-cat-bypass-copper-gaskets-/190627011569?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Model%3ACayenne&vxp=mtr&hash=item2c62415bf1 Cold Air: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Porsche-Cayenne-S-Cayenne-GTS-Cold-Air-Intake-System-/190592725924?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item2c603633a4 T
  13. I cannot seem to find it? I search on 'lights' and 'light' .. Maybe I am a nim-rod but perhaps you could send me the link? Thanks
  14. I am looking to replace the lights throughout the interior of the car. I have done almost all but for the lights in the arm rests. Are there instructions available for getting to these lights? 2006 Cayenne S
  15. Thanks. So are there more drains on the sunroof than the ones that drain to the front of the car? If they are the same, perhaps I could use the same technique for clearing these: I used compressed air to clear the front drains. Any thoughts?
  16. I found some moisture in the rear well (next to the spare tire) of my 06 Cayenne. Where are the drain lines (entrance / exit) for the back of the car?
  17. Can't say I did any dyno testing before / after. Seat of the pants testing tells me there is something extra but I couldn't quantify it for you...sorry. I definitely am a huge fan of the new sound though!!
  18. Anyone try this and get 30+ HP gains? http://www.ebay.com/itm/270842542455 I thought I maxed out my 2006 S with cold air intake and cat bypass pipes. Maybe not?? Just curious...
  19. So I got my hand behind the changer. I need a little advice. I can feel the optic connector on the bottom of the back of the CD changer. I can even pull the tab down on the connector and pull on the fiber lines. But the connector will not pop out. Understandably I am worried about pulling too hard and breaking the optic lines. Is there another tab that I have to move / slide / etc ?? (besides the one on the top of the connector) Tom
  20. Well let me put it to you this way, I haven't had a pair of gloves that fit me since I was 19 years old (half+ a lifetime ago). Actually not true, I was able to find a pair of 3XL gloves ... that I lost last year. Maybe I can get my middle son to root around for me. :)
  21. I ordered and already received the one from BumperPlugs. Thanks deilenberger I'm going to look at the CD changer tomorrow (Sunday). Any hints on how to get to the fibre connector at the CD changer? I understand there's a lot of PIA trim to take off. ...T
  22. I installed an aftermarket Bluetooth receiver. As such, I need to disable the CD changer. 1) Does anyone have the part number of the fiber coupler that bypasses the CD changer? 2) Is bypassing (at the changer) recommended over having the dealer disable? Thanks
  23. thanks deilenberger I actually understand the loop concept fairly well ... though I cannot seem to find the coupler (part number) you are speaking of.
