Based on everything that I have read here, I have one question:

Does the latest "Oils approved by Porsche" Bulletin superceed the Owner's Manual Recommendations? The reason I ask is because in my owner's manual, 15 W50 oil is recommended for temperatures higher than 50 degrees. Which is what we have here in FL.

Intreresting stuff guys. Thanks. When the dealer told me what they were going to do it sounded like I could do it myself. Oil change, wiperblades, filters, etc. Are all the filters very easily accessible? It sounds like it. Also, I have read that normal intervals for oil changes are every 15k miles correct?

My '03 Boxster has 32k miles, I called the dealer today to find out how much the 30k service cost and quoted me $975!! What do they do that costs so much? Can I do it myself or take it to an independant and have them do the work? Any ideas? Thanks

Where in Florida are you? I ordered the parts from Sunset and had the key cut and programed at Champion Porsche in Pompano Beach.

Pretty funny but true. To save some money, buy the remote and key blank separate (from Sunset). Have your local dealer program the remote and cut the blank. Then you hand over your arm and leg to the dealer as payment. Goood Luck!

OUCH!! Two replacements in 25k?? Do you guys have a "lemon law"?

I am also on the same boat with my '03. The warranty expires in August and I am debating shelling out the $2100. But will I have a repair that will cost more than $2100 in the next couple of years? Did you read Warranty Direct's exclusions? It appears that if the clutch goes out you are SOL. I think that if I had a japanese car it would be a no brainer and would not pay the $2100............Still thinking about it.

Well, I finally took it to the dealer today to have the problem looked at.

However, the dealer said that it could be the tires even though they are brand new Pirelli P-zeros. He also said that if the tires are not Porsche certified (or something like that) and it is in fact the tires, it is not covered under the warranty and they will charge me $120.00 for the inspection. I told him that I thought it was BS but left the car there anyways.

Is there a list of tires that Porsche certifies? And if there is, where can I find it.

Found the phone connector and I am now using it to power the Sat. radio. Pretty simple actually. Thanks!!

I have another question however, when I popped open the carpet to get to the phone connector, there is some kind of electronic box for the air bags. I placed all the excess wire, etc. in the area where this small box is, would that affect its function in anyway? I am assuming probably not, but just wanted to ask to be safe. Thanks again.

From what I have read, you can either have the power supply on all the time or off when the ignition is shut off. It all depends which wire of the phone connector you tap into.

I did a search and found pictures of the phone connector. Is it always found in the same location?

I am assuming the cell phone connector is behind the radio? What color are the wires that carry the power. As you can see, I am new at this so please bear with me.

I am thinking of splicing the wires that power the cigarrette lighter to provide power to my satellite radio. Is there anything I should worry about or be on the lookout for?

I was thinking about doing the same mod to my '03. I found this intermittent wiper kit on ebay(cut and paste link below). They make the install sound like a piece of cake.

Peter986, I am assuming that you are using the built-in FM modulator in the sat. radio, how is the sound quality coming out of the Porsche radio?

Tool Pants, so by the antenna being underneath all that plastic, there is no interference or loss of signal strength?

I am trying to picture where Cesarfl has it mounted, he said near the back window, doesn't it interfere with the top when it is lowered and raised?

I am looking to install satellite radio in my car, I have read several posts but none indicate where to mount the satellite antenna (maybe I missed it). Where is the most common location?

I am looking for the simplest install because I want to keep the original radio and don't want to take too many things apart.

If anybody has already done this any input will be extremely helpful. And lastly, XM or Sirius?

I have to take it in for a couple of things (it is still under warranty) so I'll ask the service rep to turn it on. Nothing additional is needed correct? Just ask them to turn it on?

Jim, Did the dealer charge you anything to turn on the OBC?

Thanks for replying, but no noise just the car skipping or bouncing on the pavement. I notice it more on right turns but will keep an eye on left turns. Maybe since right turns are sharper than left. By the way, this happens on dry pavement.

This has been happening for quite a while, so I finally decided to post it. As I make right turns on city streets and accelerate, the car feels like if the rear tires are bouncing off the pavement, I thought maybe it was the tires but I recently replaced them and it is still happening. Somebody mentioned that it could be the shocks. Any ideas? has this happened to anybody?

I just went through the same thing, but in my case I had to replace both rear tires which is what is recommended due to the difference in wear. Most places sell road hazzard coverage on the tires but you have to buy a full set which obviously equals to more money. Oh well, what can you do.
