  1. I'm not sure I understand the sport chrono option (benefits).

Tomorrow I will drive an 08 911 Turbo that is NOT a CPO with under 10K miles.

What do I need to know about this car?

The 08 Turbo is priced the same as the 2010 C4S (<1,000 miles).

2010 has warranty turbo does not.

How do I verify the 08 was not over rev'ed?

If I remember right then the tool they use to see what the car computer says can tell if/how often/when it was last redlined.

    The turbo's didn't get PDK until 2010.

The sport chrono also gives you the "sport" and "sport plus" modes which, I think, are quite nice. The little timer in the dash is a waste of space, but they come together.

    - ask

  2. Wow that's really cool... And the price is not bad either....

My 4S came with it and I now having it I can't imagine having one without. The gearing and accelerator sensitivity changes make a huge difference for how the car drives (likewise the PASM changes, but I don't think that's part of this particular package).

Normal mode = nice comfortable commute. Sport = Wrroooom spirited fun. Sport Plus is just overdoing it outside a closed track.

  3. I'm assuming you have already purchased the car?

Thanks Phillip. I made sure to go through your checklist (although some of them not until I got the car home in the afternoon). I went down and exchanged money for car that afternoon. The dealer (beverly hills porsche) were really good about making sure I got everything on your list actually (without me having to prod them at all) -- including documentation and stickers for the CPO stuff. Funny how buying it used got me more (more time and more miles) warranty than if I'd bought a new one.

So much fun; and surprisingly comfortable to drive. My only experience driving a 911 prior to getting the keys was driving it around the block last monday. I always suspected that going to try it would just be expensive, so I've been resisting. ;-) I got a seat for the toddler today, so when I get that installed I'll be able to use it a bit more, too (for living in Los Angeles I don't drive too much and many of the trips are with her).

  4. Thank you very much.

Already done. Dealer says all is ok and that there are no any updates to my specific car (it's from the end of May 2010). This (a light schok in the transmission - as when you engage a manual gear with the wrong RPM - only arives when downshifting by hand from 4th to 3th and cuting the gas at the same time, in D and S. Didn't try S+ yet. If in automatic the downshifting is perfect.

In my wifes GTI (with DSG -- VW's name for the dual-clutch automatic transmission) it does something similar sometimes. Remember how it works by basically keeping the other clutch ready for the next gear to switch super fast. If it ends up having to switch the other way it doesn't have the right gear ready and it'll basically be a (relatively) slow gear change. I think that might explain the "lurch" or "shock" as you call it?
