  1. My Cayenne has been very reliable. What milage did you get the vehicle at?

    Just an observation, my temp never passes the 180 mark.

    yes for freeway driving but he's doing low speed "offroad" driving i guess it's normal

    No matter the driving conditions my temp never moves off the 180 mark even with the AC on full chat and climbing hills. I would just make sure everything is up to par.

    I picked it up with 82K miles on it. Did the coolant pipe check of course and it has been taken care of. I had just done 4 miles of dirt road (not really 4 wheeling) with the A/C blasting. Notice 75 degrees at 9700 ft. elevation! It was a very hot day! As we came down Big Cottonwood Canyon on the other side, every 1000 ft of drop=10 degree increase in outside temperature. By the time we hit the Salt Lake valley floor (~5000' ele) it was 105 outside. I've got to schedule the 100K maintenance interval so I will have things looked at then. I've got an indy shop close, but they don't have a PIWIS to check the codes. I've got a Durametric, and I am not getting any cooling related codes. My local dealership is pretty decent so maybe I'll have them look into it. Any idea what the average cost of that service interval should be?

  2. downloaded Durametric 6 right from their website again. Connected to my cayenne and still had six modules not found. Transmission, Gateway, Compass, Transfer Case, Transverse Lock, and Off Road Stabilizer. Now I probably dont have the Off Road Stabilizer, but I'm sure I have the rest. After previously clearing all faults, seven modules have come back with faults. Two that seem to have to do with the "CAN comfort". Mostly things I can live with for now but the fault in the Level Control will have to be investigated. Would it be worth while to download ver. 5 and try that? I have also seen something about upgrading the firmware on the cable. Necessary?

  3. Durametric arrived. So I got Parallels 6 and a full version of Windoze 7. Pretty much doubled the cost of my diagnostics just so can use my mac, runs great and communicates with my '04 CTT. However, there are half a dozen controllers it doesnt seem to be able to communicate with. I can reset fault codes, and reset my maintenance reminder, It just doesnt connect to controllers like "transmission", "Air Conditioning". I'm just going to have to see what flags come up over the next few months.

  4. And perhaps weird shift phenomenons (Tiptronic) because the final ratio is changed.

    Even more important. Really do NOT want to cause problems in the tranny. Looks like I'll just have to save my duckets for a full set of 18' rims and on/off road tires. Loren, just curious, how does your table compare 275/40/R20's vs. 255/55/R18's? I know they are both Porsche recommended options, but just wondering.

Then something is wrong with both my rear door locks, i removed all my 4 door handles and then re-installed them, the front 2 doors still act the same way but the 2 rear doors do not unlock when you touch them. (Locking by pressing the button works on all 4). I guess i will have to find someone with a PIWIS to troubleshoot.

    My passenger rear door handle behaves this way. My theory is a fault in the Kessy antenna in that particular door. Does your dash indicate "Does not recognize key" when you open your rear doors once unlocked?

  6. Just curious. I have been deeply envolved with the off road industry for about 15 years.

    Have the connections to design and produce some parts if there was any interest.

    I have some cool ideas for all of the following

    -Real rock rails

    -Winch mount-front.

    -Aux light mounts.

    -CB antenna mounts

    -Transfer case skids

    -Roof racks

    -Bumper protection.

    -Tow points.

    I would love to see some DUTY off-road gear for my Cayenne Turbo! I want to take it to some pretty remote parts of Utah and put its capability through the paces. There is a 3.5 rated trail in Canyonlands National Park called "Elephant Hill". Ive seen Rovers do this trail and the park services claims that stock 4x4 vehicles should be able to manage it. A stainless skid plate and engine protector is definitely in order plus rock rails are a good start. Better options in brush guards (protecting intercoolers) with winch mounts would be nice as well as steel wheels.

  7. I just bought an '04 CTT. The Keyless system totally confused me at first. You only have to touch the handle with the keys in your pocket and the lock should open. The button on the door handle is for LOCKING. Hold the handle and push the button when you want to lock it up. However, don't pull the handle and push the button or you will roll down all of the windows as my wife discovered on one of her first drives in a massive blizzard.
