After a recent episode with a flat battery on an 04 986, I was pursuaded to use a portable battery booster through the cigarette lighter to allow me to pop the front bonnet.
During the boost phase the car alarm sounded and instictively i turned the ignition keys to silence it. Stupid, I know.
Long story short the car is now fine but dead CDR - it just doesnt power on at all. I've changed the fuses for radio & amp, plus the inline fuse to the rear of the head unit but no joy.
Just wondered if anyone had similar experiences / suggestions / knew of anyone who might attempt a diagnosis of the head unit ... ?
Failing that is there a cheap direct replacement unit anyone could suggest pls.?
Thanks.

Interestingly, after having the fuses pulled for 4 or 5 weeks, yesterday the CDR23 burst into life when re-connected (until the ignition was next switched off).
This validates that the vehicle VIN code has been lost from the unit and requires re-programming via PST2 - to be discovered shortly ;-)
