Here's a shot of my Boxster with Cayman vents painted from Eric at Bumperplugs - couldn't be happier with the result!
I am very interested in puchasing the Cayman side vent kit for my 987 Boxstercan anyone direct me to a site or a company that sells the entire kit frames and vents.
much appreciated
Try Bumperplugs.com They should come painted and with instructions for installation.

Is the phone adaptor there in the 987? I didn't think it was. I saw someone do a hard wire in a 987, they just used wire behind the fuse box on an ignition line.
You can also wire right into the self-dimming mirrors if you have them; there's a switched power source there. Easy 10 minute job.

OK, guys, thanks for all of your assistance with the PCM/Navi questions! I'm assembling all of the parts and the next step will be for my dealer to do the install of the PCM/Navi system. Any idea on what kind of labor costs I'm probably looking at?
Also, what is the latest Navi CD I need? Is it included with part number 000-044-900-89?
Thanks!

The part number is only sold for RoW cars. It has been replaced by 997.642.101.11.FMH.
I do not know if it will work (program) in a US car.
Does anyone else know if this unit number can be programmed for the USA? I'd hate to give up a freebie!
Thanks!
It takes an hour to install the thing and maybe another few minutes to activate it via the PIWIS (or..whatever its called). Save yourself some $ if you are cool with your dealer and install the PCM2.1 unit yourself (it is very easy if you aren't installing the nav antenna) and bring it down to the dealership to get it "activated". Whats the worst thats going to happen, you get charged $45 for finding out a $4000 part doesn't work in your car?
Good luck! I did the same thing you did - had navi installed after the fact, and it works fine.
Did you have the same model number as I'm looking at?

Will this PCM model number #997.642.101.05 work in my 06 987? It says on the pricing system has been superceded by # 997.642.101.11.
I have a friend in Germany who has this part and wants to sell/give it to me.
Thoughts? Help!
Thanks,
Rob

Does anyone know the part number and rough price for the gray trim piece (bezel) that goes around the navi system in the 987?
I'm looking to potentially install a Pioneer AVIC-Z1 and need a trim piece that can be fitted for it. If anyone happens to know of a trim piece or where I can purchase even the matching paint it would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Guys,
I've been looking possibly to aftermarket install the PCM Navigation in my 987. When I look at some prices online, the 997 PCM Navigation unit is almost $1500 cheaper than the 987 PCM Navigation unit.
Is there a difference between the two? Can I save some money by installing a 997 nav unit in my 987?
Thanks!

The control piston for this TSB is backordered until early April - very few parts in the USA at this moment. Get on a list at your dealer if you want it.

I obtained a copy of the TSBs dated Feb. 27, 2006, for the 2.7/3.2 987, and the Cayman (987). The TSBs are identical. Since I am in the US I have what was issued by Porsche Cars North America, Inc.
Porsche calls it a " Screeching Noise From The Engine During Warm-up" at about 2,000 rpm. The control piston in the oil pump cover is to be replaced with a new design, for engines made as of December 5, 2005.
The mechanics did not have this part out of the engine on a 987, so they took one out on a 986 for my sample pictures. Takes longer to get the car on the lift then it does to replace this "piston", which I would call a valve, which is at the end of the spring in my second pic.
Tool Pants, what's the TSB number so we can refer to it when calling our dealers? thanks!
Never mind, just called my dealer and for those who want to know, the TSB # is ENU1726. Scheduled my visit for this Friday 3/10.

Just had the mod applied to my 2005 Boxster, took about 30mins and the rattles gone. Mine used to manifest itself at exactly 2100 revs when engine was just warm.
David, can you tell us exactly what they did and is there a TSB out there for this yet that the rest of us can refer to when we call our dealers? Thanks!

Will the rear speaker kit for MY 97-04 Boxsters fit in an 05-06? Is there any difference in the storage area that would preclude this? Any issues with hooking it up to the standard stereo?
Thanks!

Is is true that you need to add another amplifier or can you just hook the speakers into the current amplifier? I have a standard sound system on my Boxster, wanting to know before I purchase this item.
Thanks!
