  1. Hi I have install the speaker system from Euro Motorspeed, "Great people to do business with " on my 2007 Boxster and it does not hamper the storage box and it does not go through or connect to the MOST on the amp. you have to use a small amp for powering the rear speakers I used an MTX amp that switches on automatically when I turn on the stereo this amp is the only amp that does that. it uses low power.

The wireing from the amp connects to the wireing going to the speakers in the doors and thats it that all you do. It take a couple of hrs to install the speakers in the storage box the amp and run the wireing. when I was done, I took it to one of the stereo installation guy and it cost me $60. dollars for them to do the final connections to the wireing, well worth the money. All in all in final cost when finished about $315. total. great sound and well worth it.

Is is true that you need to add another amplifier or can you just hook the speakers into the current amplifier? I have a standard sound system on my Boxster, wanting to know before I purchase this item.

    Thanks!

  2. Here's a shot of my Boxster with Cayman vents painted from Eric at Bumperplugs - couldn't be happier with the result!

I am very interested in puchasing the Cayman side vent kit for my 987 Boxster

can anyone direct me to a site or a company that sells the entire kit frames and vents.

    much appreciated

Try Bumperplugs.com They should come painted and with instructions for installation.

  4. The part number is only sold for RoW cars. It has been replaced by 997.642.101.11.FMH.

I do not know if it will work (program) in a US car.

Does anyone else know if this unit number can be programmed for the USA? I'd hate to give up a freebie!

    Thanks!

It takes an hour to install the thing and maybe another few minutes to activate it via the PIWIS (or..whatever its called). Save yourself some $ if you are cool with your dealer and install the PCM2.1 unit yourself (it is very easy if you aren't installing the nav antenna) and bring it down to the dealership to get it "activated". Whats the worst thats going to happen, you get charged $45 for finding out a $4000 part doesn't work in your car?

Good luck! I did the same thing you did - had navi installed after the fact, and it works fine.

Did you have the same model number as I'm looking at?

  5. Does anyone know the part number and rough price for the gray trim piece (bezel) that goes around the navi system in the 987?

I'm looking to potentially install a Pioneer AVIC-Z1 and need a trim piece that can be fitted for it. If anyone happens to know of a trim piece or where I can purchase even the matching paint it would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

    Rob

  6. I obtained a copy of the TSBs dated Feb. 27, 2006, for the 2.7/3.2 987, and the Cayman (987). The TSBs are identical. Since I am in the US I have what was issued by Porsche Cars North America, Inc.

Porsche calls it a " Screeching Noise From The Engine During Warm-up" at about 2,000 rpm. The control piston in the oil pump cover is to be replaced with a new design, for engines made as of December 5, 2005.

The mechanics did not have this part out of the engine on a 987, so they took one out on a 986 for my sample pictures. Takes longer to get the car on the lift then it does to replace this "piston", which I would call a valve, which is at the end of the spring in my second pic.

Tool Pants, what's the TSB number so we can refer to it when calling our dealers? thanks!

Never mind, just called my dealer and for those who want to know, the TSB # is ENU1726. Scheduled my visit for this Friday 3/10.

  8. Just had the mod applied to my 2005 Boxster, took about 30mins and the rattles gone. Mine used to manifest itself at exactly 2100 revs when engine was just warm.

David, can you tell us exactly what they did and is there a TSB out there for this yet that the rest of us can refer to when we call our dealers? Thanks!
