The other day jacked the car and loads of oil came out of the RHS rear of the car, got very worried but found that it wasn't actually oil, it was hydraulic oil from the rear engine mount!

Replaced it today at the same time as doing the exhaust, it was quite difficult to undo the bolt, but eventually came out !

Once out it showed how damaged it was !

Thanks but in the UK parts manual there not called purge valves, I can see bleeder valve, shut off valve and thats it.

Ive tried a fuel cap already and will investigate a bit more this weekend, I will remove the front wheel liner and check the lines of the EVAP.

Looked at the 996 parts list and can't find a fuel purge valve listed anywhere.

Yeah have checked for codes and there is none, Ive got a new fuel pump to fit so will check everything when I do that, will take the carbon canister out and have a look at that and the surrounding pipes and valves.

That is not normal and requires a valve in the fuel tank vent system to be replaced.

Do you know which valve it is and the part number ?

I have got a 1998 C2 and after a long drive I have notice a whistle from the fuel filler flap area, on short runs I've not noticed it do it. The idle is also affected and gets rough, if I take the filler cap off it stops the noise and the idle stabilises.

Ive done a search and no one seems to have posted a solution!

My thinking is it maybe the fuel pump going bad ? as I had one go on a boxster I had few years ago?

the part number that is on the cable is 996.423.222.04 but this is for RHD C2 1998 996, I have checked the part number with the local dealer and it is valid and available here in the UK

Well I discovered when looking at the car, that the 3 that are sooty are from the side where the gasket from Manifold to cat is leaking !Possible why it was running rich!

Ive not put any additive in, but Ive only had the car for few weeks so not sure what previous owner has done!

Also 4 coil packs were totally cracked so have replaced all 6 and the plugs ! Will look to see what happens in few thousand miles!

Change my plugs yesterday and noticed one side had red electrodes and the other side wasn't ! what could that mean?

Well changed both cables, turned out to be the end from the accelerator pedal to the connector under car, totally corroded and cable would barely move! In the parts manual you can only get the cable with the pedal assembley which cost a lot (£167) ! after ordering and paying for the whole assembly I notice that the cable has a part number on it, when looked up you can order just the cable at 1/4 of the price!

I now have nice smooth throttle pedal !

Yeah Ive had the pedal apart and its definitely not the pedal thats sticking, also have notice that the cable seems a few mm to short so I imagine someone has not routed it correctly after engine being removed.

Thanks thats brilliant I can see where I need to look now, the cable needs replacing as its sticky when not used for a while so I imagine some water has got into the connector and corroded it.

under carpet or under car?

Hi my throttle cable is sticking on my 98 c2, I have a new one, plus the joiner. Has anyone replaced one before ? if so how easy is it and do I need to remove the carpets ? What's the cable run? under the carpet or under the car?

Just picked up 1998 C2 with 153k on it, no history of engine change and still running fine apart from intermittent fuel pump!

While cleaning my Throttle body on my 1998 Carrera 2 I managed to brake this little plastic joint pipe, looked on diagrams but can't work out what it is, anyone know and what the part number is.
