  1. I have a V-6 Cayenne and I am tired of replacing horns and this Pepper is out of warranty. I have Hella horns I want to install. I bought them from Griot's and it looks straight forward. After looking over the hardware, I see Porsche has a proprietary plug that fits into the horns. Of course the Hella's do not. Can I assume it is as simple as cutting off the stock horns, making up new connectiions from the brown and purple stock wires and connecting the Hella's?

I got the mounting part down. It's the wiring I want to make certain of.

    Thanks!

  2. HI,

I recently bought a v6 cayenne 05, and i want to upgrade my stock wheels. My question is this: Where can i purchase wheels, whats a good aftermarket brand and whats a good size for the rims? Good meaning it looks great, at the same time doesnt sacrifice comfort. Thanks in advance!

    Sid

    Hey Sid,

I have a 2005 V6 that came with 17" OEM's...after a year I could not stand it anymore...I had a little extra cash and my dealer just took 20" sport Techno's off another customers Cayenne they were upgrading. I was lucky to get a little off the price...WOW what a visual difference. As far as ride, yes its slightly stiffer. I was also worried about weight, but the brakes seem to feel better and acceleration does not seem to be any different. Overall I am very pleased.

PS- I did ALOT of on-line research and ended up feeling better about staying with OEM. Maybe it's being overly cautious, but my family rides/drives the pepper...many wheels may be made by the same manufacturer and distributed under different names, but mine say "Porsche"... Good enough for me.

    Good Luck

  3. Summer tires: I just put on Toyo Proxes S/T(20")...SWEET! The ride is way better than the Diamaris I replaced(not as harsh...same handling). Got 'em at onlinetires.com $690.00 delivered and had them balanced and mounted $125.00= $815.00 compared to Diamaris at $1525.00. I'll spend the $710.00 difference on something fun! The tires aren't N rated but they're extra duty and W speed rated. I don't drive faster than 159 mph  . Sweet looking, too.

Can you post pictures? I'm liking the price tag :D Say what about the dreaded vibration you hear about  I live in Texas so I'm not too concerned about ice, snow, and lately rain

  4. Porsche sent out a tech from Georgia. he installed a software update and we believe that the problem is now fixed.

I must say that the website and forum was a tremendous help. only after I produced page after page of owners with the same problem from all over the country, did the dealer finally admitted that the delay was a continuing issue. He then followed through with getting it fixed.

Glad to hear you got it fixed...SAD to hear one has to go to that kind of length to ensure it gets fixed. What happened to.."WE accept responsibility"?

Keep us informed if it reverts back.

  5. Help!!!

I am thinking about replacing my existing third brake light with a clear or smoked LED unit from eBay. My car is Seal Grey with clear lenses all round, and I think it will look great with the rear brake light mod. Has anyone tried this, and is it easy to do? I have searched a few forums and Google, but I can't seem to find any step-by-step instructions.

I'm looking at one of these. Anything I should look out for when buying?

    Can anyone please help me?

    Thanks in advance,

    Garry :D

Well the price is $20 higher than the dealer! If I heard my parts guy he said $75 for a new one, $125 for the earlier models. If you already purchased one, did you get it installed?

  6. We are having acceleration problems with 2006 Cayenne S. Press on the accelerator and absolutely nothing happens! After being told by the dealer that nothing is wrong 2 times already in the last 3 months, , we had a close call with a Mack truck this weekend. Car was stopped and when tried to accelerate, there was nothing! Tried again, nothing. The third time, pressed pedal all the way to floor and car shot off across road. problem is intermittent: both starting from a stop and accelerating to enter freeway, make a lane change etc. Any suggestions? Dealer said nothing was wrong again today and that I must be trying to accelerate while I have my foot on the brake. Huh???

Find another dealer if you can for another opinion...I just took my 05 V6 in for service and inquired about the lack of punch from a stop in my year model. They were upfront with me and I was told they could remap the tranny but it would probably revert back to its current state...Why? Because of my driving habits.

Now that being said, I got an 06 base as a loaner...GREAT throttle response...I thought it had more horses, but Porsche said the 06's throttles were improved...this puppy was as peppy as a C-S...

  7. Trying to do due diligence on wheel research. In the bit I have done, I narrowed it down to a nice set of Victor Turismo's for the Pepper. Seems like very nice wheels for a very nice price! From all the threads, in different forums, from various sites its all about wieght, TUV ratings, etc. And it all points to OEM being the "best" yet these Victor's are made "for" P cars. So has anyone purchased these? Any comments on quality, performance?

    CJack :drive

OK now I have heard in another forum that these wheels are not "hub centric"...Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

  8. So, I'll be driving the family cross country this summer and am interested in a DVD solution. I have used my laptop in the past (15.4" TFT looks great), and was thinking about cheapo 8" models for each of the 3 munchkins, but was wondering if anyone else had any other reasonable ideas. My dealer has the headrest screens for $3k, but it's just a few long trips a year- no movies going 5 - 15 minutes away. Take the screens out of the headrests and you have $125 portable players.

    Suggestions/experiences?

    Thanks!

The 3 for 3 would seem best...that way they get to watch/play what they want individually. I just got one youngster and I too thought that 1-the factory headrest units were bulbus, 2-agreed about $125 would be the value if taken out, and 3- I have had several folks tell me the fate of these units being yanked out by car burglars...

SO, given the above and that fact that kids will be kids and LCD screens may fail the liquid test, I opted for a Polaroid Simplicity DVD player w/wireless headset...not a bad little machine considering it was only $120 and matches the black/aluminium interior perfectly. Mounted it to the middle armrest with a velcro strap and now we can just pop it out and take it with us rahter than someone doing that for us. (NO not visually the best fit and finish with the velcro...but the whole package looks like it goes with the SUV)

    Baby is happy for now...

  9. Unless someone has a third party unit , I would trade your car in for one that has it, it will cost you as much to have it fitted and wired. The Cayenne has VIN specific wiring (to save weight ..sic) so a major comfort control unit, wiring and dealer PIWIS programming will be required.

    I am guessing $3k minimum

My V6 has that option.. Came as part of the "comfort Pack" option

3K...Lovely...Anyone know of a aftermarket fix?

  10. I'm about to purchase a 2006 Cayenne Black/Black w/ PPB and I would like to get some insight from other I-6 Cayenne owners and if possible 6 Speed Cayenne owners. Pros and Cons of the 6 Speed? or the vehicle in general or should I go for the Cayenne S with the V-8?

Hey I love my six. Sure I'd really like a Turbo, maybe even just an S...but I've spread the $$$ out with the purchase of a Boxster too...(Working on the C4 next.) Truthfully though, it's not that bad in the 6- it's a Tipper. Sure I have to downshift to get 'er going, but its really not that bad considering the weight of the beast. Most of the time it's in auto and I get through traffic fine. Now, I had the oppourtunity to REALLY drive the 8 in a demo my dealer was doing for clients. Numerous fast starts, sharp, cornering and hard braking. OK sure there is more pep and it (The S) has that throaty sound, but for the price difference, with options (and depending on your needs) you could still get a great SUV, pretty darn equal to it's big brothers, and have some change left over for a good down payment on another P car.

MY simple advice...drive them both and depending on your driving habits/needs and bank account...go from there...

    Best Regards,

    CJack

  11. The Owner's Manual describes how to change the front and rear turn signal lamps, pages 318 to 328.

Its rather easy i did it to my cayenne with the new PIAA XTREME WHITE BULBS.

remove all front hex screws on the inside wheel well reach in and turn counter-clockwise and the bulb socket will come right out. Thats it

What PIAA XTREME'S did you use for the fogs- H11's?
