  1. Got the sensor out of the block, how do you unclip/release the connector?

I had the same problem. There is a tab on the CPS side of the connector that is pressed to remove the connector from the bracket. It cannot be seen from under the car and I could not get my finger on it. I used a 90 degree distributor screw driver to press it. Once the connector is out of the bracket it can be unplugged.

I attached a pic with an arrow pointing to the tab.

  2. Use Durametric software on a laptop to do diagnosis.

Sounds like a car I recently had where the crankshaft position sensor would get hot and open up. When the CPS is open (or not present) the DME thinks the engine is not turning over so it never turns the fuel supply on.

There should be a fault code there when you have the problem - but perhaps not when the engine is cool.

    Thanks for the quick response,

The CPS was next on my "shotgun" approach list. Where is the CPS located?

  3. Hi,

I have a 99 Carrera US model with 74k miles (30k on the motor).

    Here's my problem:

    - It will not start when it has warmed up.

    - The motor turns over just fine but it does not start at all, not even a sputter.

    - After letting it cool for 15 minutes it starts right up.

I thought maybe the plugs were worn so I replaced those and threw in a new air filter. This didn't help at all.

I suppose I need a diagnostic tool to hook up when it's not starting but I don't have one, Any recommendations on an ODB tool?

Are there any troubleshoot steps I can take or likely suspects?

    Thanks for the helpful forum.

  4. The other problems with baby in 911 are: (1) you have to push the front passenger so far forward to accommodate the infant car seat that there's little leg room left for your adult passenger; and (2) a baby stroller won't fit in the front luggage compartment, so you can't stray too far from your car with baby when you arrive at your destination (unless you enjoy heavy lifting). Good luck.

All of the things Oggie says are true, the front passenger seat is too far forward for anyone to use. It's nice to have the option of driving the kid around in the 911 though. I'm using a Britax roundabout in rear facing mode with my 4.5 month old. Dropping the kid off at daycare gets me some funny looks. :)

  5. Hi, I don't know if your problem is releated to my recent experience. I just had to replace the ignition switch on my '99 C2 even though it had been replaced last December. (8 Months and 4000 miles ago!)

This time I updated to the latest rev of the switch but had to go with the updated steering lock housing to get it, part number 996 347 017 07. Hope this one lasts.

Do you know the part number of the switch installed in February?

  6. Hi,

I'm in the process of replacing my steering wheel lock/ignition switch. I have the old wheel lock/ignition switch assembly out of the car but I cannot see how the key tumbler can be removed so I can put it on my new one. I'm thinking that the key has to be in a certain position or maybe there's a special tool I need but I cannot tell by looking at it.

Thanks in advance for you help.
