  1. All,

I have a 1999 996 Cab and a while back the horn pad(airbag) became very sensitive and would sound at teh slightest touch.  Then it got to the point where the horn would sound non-stop until i pulled the fuse.  I tried changed the mounting bracket between teh airbag and steering sheel in case the rubber mounts had worn but this did not work.

I had a friend tell me that sometimes on cars the airbags and horn switch within the airbag becomes faulty and you need to replace the whole airbag piece.  Anyone run into this?

    Thanks!

  2. All,
my 1999 996 cab top is working but it raises and lowers extremely slow, sometimes stopping and requiring me to release and again press the button to open/close the top.
A couple of months ago I filled the reservoir which was a bit low and the top worked great but recently it started to act up as above and opening/closing slow. I checked the fluid and it is still full above the + marker. I have not found any leaks. Any ideas on what to check next?

    Thanks!

    George

  3. SOLVED

Tried again tonight and found out I was using the wrong plug holes.  In the DIY the fill holes are in the front, side of pump.  On mine it is at the bottom of the transluecent container.  I saw this plug once I remove the pump from the bracket and looked under.  What made me look there was a post on another forum that showed the pump mounted horizontally and they stated the pump did not look like the one in the DIY picture.  I guess my pump is a newer version or something like that so it must have been replaced by previous owner.

top goes up very strong now.

Anyway, hope this helps anyone who has a similar pump to mine.

  4. I am in the process of installing a tequipment rollbar in my 996 cabrio. I modified the rocker panel as suggested in other threads and I am able to bolt in the front passenger side bolt but on the driver side bolt it seems the front leg does not reach close enough to the bolt area for me to start threading it in. I tried using force to spread the legs to get it close to the hole but there is not enough give... or strength in me.

I think I saw an earlier thread to use longer bolts but cant seem to find that one again.

Any suggestions on what I can do or people who have run into this?

    thanks!

  5. Installed 996 Window Regulator but....

All is working correctly except that the window will not go all the way down past the window seal. Remains about 1inch visible from the door. I followed the directions on pelican parts and bombay digital.

If I look at the right hand side bracket it hits the stopper and does not have the ability to go down any more. glass placement looks ok and aligns correctly when the door is closed.

Any suggestions of what I missed?

    Regards,

    George
