  1. How do I tell what type of head lights I have. I'm looking at going with the 8K bulbs. I don't know if I have the HID, Xenon, litronics.

This is a pic of my head lights on my 996tt. Are these the Litronics with the fish eye looking lens?

Yes, and all 996TT's have Bi-Xenon (like Litronic).

Loren thank you again for the help. Do you know any brand I should get for the 8000K bulb? I see alot on ebay. They are made in China, Japan. I did get a set from Pia at one time. Also do I get them for both low beam and high beam?

Thank you again for all your help.

  2. The remote stops working after approx. 5 days of inactivity, trey this: open the door with the key-push the key in the ignition switch-turn contact on, at the same time push on the button of the remote to recognise the system ( announcement )-pull the key out and trey to lock the door by the remote. If it doesnt work, there is a good change that the remote is faulty and most by replaced in a O.P.C. to programmed.

Yeah I gave it a try and didn't work. I guess it off the the dealer I go. Thanks for the help. <_<

  3. Have a 2 button key. Just out of the blue, the buttons will not open or lock the door or the hood. The red light is flashing on the key when the button is pressed. Also too the battery out to check if the batter is good. 3V perfect. The door will lock from the inside by the button on the dash board. Any ideas on what may have or is causing this?

    Thanks.

  4. I have a 2001 996T and I'm interested too...C'mon folks...somebody out there has to have updated there stereo system

Well I just got mine done. The door speakers are Focal 165V3, 6.5 inch mid bass and the dash is 4" midrange with a 1 3/4" tweeters. Behind the seat is a set of 6" Scanspeak woofers in a custom box. I've also installed the Eclipse AVN 6600 Navi with DVD and Sirus radio. The unit sounds great. Had to move the AC control down to allow the Navi. I've also installed the Parot speaker phone. I works well as long as the car is not moving. Engine is too loud, don't waste your money on that. I'm using a Alpine PDX 4.150 amp to drive the speakers. The amp is setup as a 3 chanel using the 3rd chanel bridged to run the sub. I also installed a Ipod controler with the AVN 6600. The system works well and sounds really good.

  5. Im thinking about upgrading my audio system in my 02 996tt. Has anyone done any upgrades and does anyone know what are the size of speakers for the dash and the doors. I don't want to install any in the back panels. All info would be helpfull. Even brands etc.

    thanks

  6. Why don't you just try some...like 4lbs. less all around. I think 19" w/PSS9 are way better than 19" with stock suspension, IMHO.

I was told to run around 50 lbs of air in the tires. Man my rollerblades rides better than the car. I'll try taking 4 or lbs of air out. Maybe that will help.

    Thanks.

  7. I'm considering buying a 2005 996 Turbo S, that is supposed to have the 455 hp engine installed. This is supposed to be similar to the x50 option from previous years. The Engine/Transmission code in the Maintenance Book lists the code as:

    M9670-645 G9650-40

Can anyone confirm these codes confirm the 455 hp engine version (it has the 6-spd manual tranny)?

    Thanks in advance!

Where can I find the Engine/Transmission code on my car?

  8. Thanks again Larry.

The part number will be great. Going fishing for 10 days. Hope the car will be done when I get home.

    Thanks again.

    Larry

Did you get a chance to get the part number for the clutch?

    Thanks

Hi, sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, had a alarm condition on my boat down in the Harbor. This EVO link will ID the pressure plate/ clutch, your locate Porsche parts dealer can ID the correct Sach's P/N which could be cheaper than EVO.

    http://www.evoms.com/porsche%20ec%20art.htm

I got my parts guy to look at the EVO site and gave me the parts, I didn't retain the P/N data.

    Good luck,

    Larry

    Thanks Larry

I'll see if I can find one before I head off to Mexico.

Alarm on your boat? I see you have one of those bottomless pit also.

Where are you located at in California?

  9. I have an 02 996TT-X50. It has the GT2 K24 turbo and GT2 intercoolers. It also has the fabspeed exhaust with the Gemballa programing. The car is putting out 570 HP. The clutch was never upgraded. Now it slips during hard accelerations. Slips starts around 3500~4000 RPM.

My questions is. Is there any adjustment I can make or should I just upgrade to a stronger clutch? Can anyone recommend a unit which I should go with?

    Thanks

    Ed.
