  1. How can you question 3rd party dyno test?
  2. We need more info. What year Boxster? Which kit did you buy?
  3. The RoW 030 kits can be ordered from Sunset Imports in OR for around $920-980 depending on which model;986 tiptronic,986s 6-spd etc. that you choose.
  4. I will chime in on this topic since I've driven my 986 w/ a Xenon retrofit for awhile now. Yes,visibility is GREATLY increased. The cut off isn't great for installing xenons in standard h7 assemblies. I notice that the passenger side light pattern shoots slightly upwards and every once and awhile I can see inside the car in front of me at stop lights. :P The Litronics have a projector that helps the xenon light prevent such a thing from happening. All-in-all I LOVE the difference. I recommend them since the lowest I've seen LItronics for is $1.7k. $100-150 for a retrofit kit are a steal compared to Litronics.
  5. 2. What about the long term impact on the electrical system. I always get a little antsy with retrofits, as you have to wonder if the engineering is as thorough as the car manufacturer normally does or requires from his suppliers. There shouldn't be any long term issues. My xenon conversion runs at 35w, the stock halogens ran at 55w. 4. Most important, are the lights really that much better? I have to dodge deer on the way to work, and it's getting a little old not seeing them at the side of the road waiting to jump in front of my car. YES! They do help visibility. Buy a genuine OEM ballast Nissan,Audi,Porsche or whoever on eBay and do a kit that way. Mine is from a 350z set up and I LOVE IT! I drive fast and I need all the visibility I can get.
  6. Just a couple of things that I've noticed on the car I've desnorkified(?) -99'(possibly 00') have an outdated intake louvre, order the new one,it's designed to prevent foreign objects that are residing on the lower edge of the intake cover from being sucked in. The newer designed louvre has the lower two 'fins/lines' connected. -The actually design of the side intake cover was redesigned as well. I don't know if it was in 00' or 01' that this occurred but my both(passenger & driver) side intakes on my 99' were the same. On my 01' S the driver's side intake cover is designed outward, possibly to prevent water from being sucked in. -On the actually snorkel itself there is a tiny tab that keeps the snorkel in place. It's located at the top of the snorkel tube part that touches the air intake box. Because of it's design I would think it would be better to push up or down to remove, not left or right. Hopefully someone can post pics when they have a chance. *Please stop quoting everyone else's stuff,it makes reading a thread hard.
  7. Thanks for the write-up! I didn't know that changing out the water pump is this easy.
  8. At the 1st poster, Are those the 550 taillights on your car currently?
  9. Are you running an oil based air filter? If so did you re-clean(re-oil) it,prior to the MAF going bad?
  10. Just an update. The DieHard International battery is now $129.99 w/o core charge at Sears and is rated at 700 CCA at 41lbs. The Duralast 48-DL is $69.99 w/o core charge at Autozone, rated at 700 CCA as well and weighs 37lbs. What makes battery prices jump around so much
  11. go on google and type 'mike focke boxster batteries' he has a section of his website dedicated to batteries.
  12. What happened to you 3.2L engine? How many miles were on it? Now would be the best time to consider a 3.6L engine from a 911.
  13. That's exactly how my clutch was when it was worn out. Extremely stiff halfway through the pedal travel and the bite was high.
  14. Gary did you ever get to taking any pics? Did you use the litronic panel cover that has a small rectangular gap that the OEM ballast runs it connection through?
  15. Nope. The HID beam doesn't stay on when the car is off. Not on the aftermarketkit ,not on the OEM litronics.
  16. What does the spring rate mean exactly? K Sports are 500lbs. vs the 300 on other coilovers.....what does this translate to performance and ride wise?
  17. Please keep us updated. K Sport has gotten reviews all over the board, some good some bad. Their coilovers are really stiff from what I hear. A member on 986forum is trying to get springs that have a different spring rate because of how stiff they are.
  18. Bump. I could use Doug's advice. I re-ask the question above,my calipers look EXACTLY like the before.
  19. I was looking to put the same wheels on my 01' S. PLEASE POST PICS WHEN YOU GET THEM ON. So why did you need 6.5mm spacers in the front? Was the wheel hitting the caliper?
  20. Nick what do you search under? I couldn't find any Top Frame Assembly or anything like that.
  21. I don't have headers yet..... I'm looking at 2 different(possibly 3) headers at the moment. The first are the imagine Auto headers. The 2nd headers are the ones on ebay, which look VERY similar to the imagine Auto ones. The ebay ones are made by a company called Top Speed in Addison Texas. They basically take other companies designs and clone then. I have their Short Shift Kit(B & M clone with the shaft flip) and the exhaust(GHL clone, different mounting points) and I couldn't be happier. Boggtown(member on here) just bought the ebay ones and will be installing them this week. He knows I've been looking into them for awhile but I only have 2 accounts of people with reviews(1 great,1bad),so he will be letting me know of the fitment and quality. The 3rd set of headers I'm considering are by a company called TurboWerx, they are semi-new to the P-Car scene. They produced a Twin Turbo system for Boxsters. They claim +25hp w/ a K & N installed, and they have dyno charts to prove it. How they managed to get those types of gains I have no clue. You would think Gemballa , Fabspeed, evoms, or imagine Auto could come close to those types of gain but I have yet to see it.

  23. De-snorkeling will not bring in water. Look at the design of the snorkel,it can serve as a reservoir to hold water, not protect the car from ingesting it. It's HIGHLY unlikely that your intake will suck in anything,it would have to heads upwards on the intake box, pass the air filter and then it would hit the throttle body and onto the engine. Oh yeah that would have to happen after water is shot into the intake at a 90 degree angle......not gonna happen. I forgot to mention that Porsche updated the louvre on the driver side intake. It now has a small block built into the 1st and 2nd lowest louvre grilles to block out anything from being sucked in.
  24. Most of the time if there is an issue with headers on a Boxster it's on the e-gas 2.7 or 3.2L engine with a o2 configuration in each header. 2.5L engine do not have the 02 sensors located in the header design and the only thing there is to worry about is the headers fitting properly.
