    P1128 Oxygen Sensing Adaptation, Idle Range, Bank 1 – Above Limit

    P1130 Oxygen Sensing Adaptation, Idle Range, Bank 2 – Above Limit

    Potential causes:

    P102

    – Open circuit

    – Short circuit to ground

    – Mass air flow sensor

    P1128 & P1130

    – Incorrect signal from MAF sensor

    – Intake air system leaking

    – Fuel pressure too low

    – Volume supply of fuel pump too low

    – Fuel injectors fouled

    – Exhaust system leaking

  2. 996.613.155.00.A02 is the spoiler switch in gloss black (pre MY02)

    996.613.155.00.A05 is the spoiler switch in matte black (MY02 - on)

    It is strange Loren but the copy of PET on my computer lists the post 02 matte black as 996.613.155.10.A05.

    Anyway the Dealer will sort this out. Important is that it must end in A05 not A02 for matte.

    Could someone please inform me whether the correct part number for the Spoiler Switch for a 2003 ROW 996 is the following?

    996.613.155.00 A05 (matte).

    I went to my one and only Porsche Dealer today, gave him this part number but could not verify that it is the correct PN for my car... :censored:

    According to PET catalogue it should be 996.613.155.10 A05 (matte).

    996.613.155.00 A02 (glossy).

    Mind you the actual part was only used on the Turbo, so you will need some rewiring if your car is a Carrera.

  4. Today as I was driving, suddenlyI could not select any of the gears in the front plane (reverse, 1,3,5). My car is an S with the Porsche short shift which I've had for almost 3 years now.

    I had some difficulty selecting reverse a few times over recent weeks which I ignored.

    I limbed home using 2nd and 4rth and tried to adjust the short shift linkage by tightening the front screw. This improved the selection of 1,3 and 5 but there no way I can select reverse.

    Any ideas as to cause of the problem? Parts that usually go wrong? Any further adjusment possibilities on the cable linkage to cure the problem. I believe the actual lever short shift is not damaged in anyway.

    Your assistance will be appreciated.

  5. I have a 1995 993 convertible- i believe it is leaking from the floor of the car to inside the car (the floor mats are all wet)- (i dont think its coming from above. has anyone encountered this? how can this be remedied?

    pls help.

    Clean the water drains. Accumulation of leaves and dirt blocking the drains is a possible cause.

    Looking for part number and price for a non-smoker type of plug that would replace the cigarette lighter (the heated element); local dealer could not find it on their system...

    The part # is 996.652.103.00.A01, "socket for M580".

    It should be available from the factory, I got it about a year ago. The cost was the equivalent of $5 or $6.

  7. Just installed these tyres.Noticed that they don't have the "N" porsche approved mark.

    Just "extra load" mark.

    Is this normal?

    Anyone with Michelin ps2 tyres, do you have the N mark on your tires?

    There are PS2 tyres with and without N-rating. Not all Porsche sizes (pre 9X7) are available in PS2 with "N". In such cases, if you insist on Michelin, you either opt for PS2 without N, or Pilot Sport "Rib" with N.

    PS2 are considered more advanced than "Rib" and for this, some say worth sacrificing the N mark.

  8. I have noticed that sometimes when I lock the car from the key fob the lights blink and the horn "bleeps" once. Then other times the lights blink but the horn doesn't "bleep" at all. I have paid attention and all of the conditions (windows up, parking brake on, both boots shut, etc..) are the exact same, so the horn part appears to be intermittent.

    A) is the horn supposed to bleep or not under normal circumstances when locking down ?

    B) if so, what might be causing mine to do so only intermittantly ?

    Actually, I just thought of something....

    when we were away on vacation I was locking the glove box, which I don't normally do, and the horn was bleeping on lock down. When I got home I noticed that the horn was back to not bleeping, but the glove box was probably unlocked at this point. Would that be it? The horn doesn't bleep if the glovebox is left unlocked - even in a locked car ?

    The horn bleeps when the glove box is not closed well. Maybe a problem with the electrical contact.

    It has nothing to do with it being locked or unlocked.

    The above is the correct part number that corresponds to the picture you posted. It is also the latest, no upgrades beyond that.

    There is another part with the same name in the roof mechanism so go by the number not the name.

  10. I was inspecting the underside of my 01 S and noticed a very small quantity of oil dripping on the plastic undertray, about 2 inches from its rear edge. It doesn't end up on the garage floor because it is retaind by the undertray.

    There is an hexagonal bolt at the bottom of the engine, in a diagonal position (I don't know what it does), and the oil is either dripping from that spot or from somewhere above and reaches the bolt which is at the lowest point of the engine.

    Any ideas as to the possible sources of the oil leak will be well appreciated.

  11. If the engine was not running then that would be normal for some readings. You will get the same readings (under the same conditions) with a PST2.

    Here is a screenshot of my car with just the ignition switch on - cold engine overnight.

    Also, make sure you have the latest version 2.1 just came out a few days ago. You can always download the latest version at their site.

    By coincidence, in the meantime we received a support e-mail from Durametric saying among other things:

    "We recently became aware that Actual Values on some versions of Motronic 7.2 are not working correctly. We are working on fixing this problem and will hopefully have it resolved within a few weeks at most. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused."

    So this seems to be our problem.

    But even on your read-out Loren the exhaust temp. is incorrect (-54 F)

  12. I tried to use the Diagnostic Tool today on my 01 S (DME 7.2).

    It read the fault codes and cleared them, the vehicle identification was correct but the Actual Values displayed were either blanks or illogical (e.g.temperature readings of -minus).

    Do you have any opinions/experience on the matter? Is the tool supposed to perform all functions with all models/years, or is the Durametric Tool limited to fault code reading/deleting at present on certain cars?

  13. I lost the engine on a 2000 S. Right now I have 2 engines in stands next to each other. The old engine is a Variocam F1 while the new one is a variocam plus (I was told an 03). I noticed there are some differences like a couple of sensors, fuel injectors and fuel rail, the position of the plug wires/coils. There is also a difference in the pins on the wiring harness even though the plugs are the same. So, is there a difference between the 00S and the 03S DMEs? Has anyone come across this? Edwin.

    Different part numbers for -99, -02 and 03-. So they must be different.

  14. i hear a whistling noise when im driving my car at 50mph and over... does anyone know where it's coming from? a/c grill maybe? is my car just running smoothly fast?

    Try lowering the front edge of the front hood so that it is slightly below the bumper. This has fixed it for me. Before i read about this cure on a different Board, I thought the whistle came from all sorts of places and it was impossible to isolate its source.

  15. Rear tire wear on my Boxster S with sports suspension has always been at around 8,000 miles no matter what make of tires I use.

    I went through Pirelli Asimetrico,Pirelli Rosso, Continental Sport Contact 2 and Michelin Pilot Sport without any change in wear.

    No wear on Front tires, always as new.

    The M030 is partly to blame. The C4S is also fitted with the sports suspension.

    Also I never use the car in town, so all the mileage is motorway or fast secondary road driving.

    I wish to retrofit self-dimming mirrors on my 01 986 S. Mainly the interior one but maybe the outside mirror too. However I want to know how difficult/extensive these tasks are beforehand, prior to purchasing the parts.

    Can someone please, enlighten me by giving me the fitting instructions (either Porsche or your own)?

  17. I shall install a set of sport headers from Techart Germany on my 986 S, MY01.

    However, I have heard stories of broken bolts whilst removing the factory items. What special care is required,if any, to avoid such incidents? Are these incidents frequent or a remote possibility?

    Anyway I shall use hand tools only and ease the bolts with WD40; definitely no power tools.

    Your help will be appreciated.

  18. I think this moisture is normal for all Boxsters I have seen, including my 2001 S.

    No system can be 100% air tight, but the new type cap reduces this moisture. It is just that due to the position of the reservoir it is noticeable. In the engine bay of a front engined car you would't even notice such moisture.

    If the reservoir leaked the area underneath the carpet and eventuallythe carpet itself would get wet, and you would notice loss of coolant.

  19. Possible but pure speculation at the moment! 2008 is a LONG way away. The 997 still has a few models to come before Porsche will be ready to bring in the next version...... we still haven't seen the Turbo or GT3 and there could be a GT3 RS or even GT2 model......

    Do you really want to wait that long for your next car? why not get the 987 enjoy it for a few years and then try something else.

    With the Panamera coming out in 2009 Porsche will have their hands full until then. So don't expect a brand new 911 before next decade. What is certain is a facelift by 2008 and larger engine size , to 4.0lt perhaps and some 400HP
