  1. I have an 07 GT3 with nearly 36K miles on it. I have had a sharkwerks by-pass installed on the car since about 12,000 miles and an OEM RS LWF since about 16,000 miles. These are the best mods I have ever had on any Porsche I have owned, period!! I can't imagian not having this combo on my GT3. I owned my first Porsche in 1962 and this Gen-1 GT3 is by far the best one so far. The only thing that could make it better is Sharkwerks 3.9 conversion, which will be installed on my car later this month!!! biggrin.gif

  2. I'm not an expert and certainly not a driving instructor. That being said (apart from what has already been discussed) an Aero kit kit would be a real help. A Gt3 front bumper cover and rear wing would make the car much more stable at the speeds you are speaking of. Also I believe that lowering the car would help as well. (it certainly helped my turbo) Other members please chime in if I'm wrong about this..

  3. Wow... Too bad nobody has responded to this.. For an exhaust on a Carrera you have lots of choices. Youy can spend as much as you want.. Fabspeed makes a great exhaust for the Carrera. So do many others..Tubi. Tech Art, Speed tech, GMG, etc. Just realize you are spending A LOT of money and you will not see any measurable HP gains on a normally aspirated car. I have a friend who has the stock exhaust on his 997 4S. Instead of an exhaust system he installed the K & N intake..The sound is awesome and MUCH less expensive than an exhaust system. He also feels a liitle power improvement around 5000 rpm..

    Do some research. You can try the K & N intake.. Pretty easy install.. You have to drill one hole.. If you don't like it you can always go back to stock and only be out a couple hundred bucks (instead of thousands.)

  4. Here in Florida.. I had a talk with Pedro a month or so ago. He met with Mobil1 and found out the Mobil1 10w-40 high mileage formula has the zinc and additives back in it we always wanted from the original Mobil1 formula. The high mileage label is the only way the EPA would go along with it... Curious. Well, I switched back from Syntec 5w-40...we will see...

  5. The 911 is not like the Boxster as you have found out.. It is not as forgiving nor as agile. I totalled one of my 911's because I didn't know how t drive it fast. I have had many 911's and have never had the PSM "scsre the crap out of me" but I can see how it could happen. Why don't you drive with it off? If you want that car to behave better you should consider the Porsche ROW suspension kit. Makes a huge difference!

    Here is some info from Porsche on the PSM..

    Enhanced Porsche Stability Management (PSM) is fitted as standard. This system automatically maintains stability even at the limits of dynamic driving performance. Sensors continuously monitor the speed, yaw velocity and lateral acceleration of the car. Using this information, PSM is able to calculate the actual direction of travel at any given moment. If the car begins to oversteer or understeer, PSM applies selective braking on individual wheels in order to restore stability.

    Under acceleration on wet or low-grip road surfaces, PSM improves traction – as well as agility and safety – using the automatic brake differential (ABD) and antislip regulation (ASR). Integrated ABS is designed to minimise braking distances.

    If you prefer an ever sportier drive, PSM can be switched off. For your safety, however, PSM remains set to intervene if the vehicle is braked and ABS assistance is required. ABS and ABD remain switched on at all times. Also included with PSM are engine drag torque control (EDC), precharging of the brake system and brake assist. If you suddenly release the accelerator pedal, PSM automatically prepares for your next action: the braking system is precharged so that the brake pads are already in light contact with the brake discs. Maximum braking power is therefore achieved much sooner. Brake assist detects a panic braking situation and generates the brake pressure required for maximum deceleration

  6. Agreed .. Very bizzare......I have heard alot of Porsche issues but never ONCE fused plugs on a low mileage car. Or a high mileage car for that matter.. I do agree on getting a CPO car though...

    Do you really think that Porsche would combine metals in an engine that could "fuse"??????

  7. I am doing just about everything you are doing, sans the magnetized drain plug and oil filter dissection. My Blackstone UOA's have all been excellent with Red Line 5W40 and Mobil 5W50. I am just finishing my 7th driving season and rolling over 52,000 miles.

    I am switching to the Jake Raby approved Joe Gibbs DT40 5W40 oil tomorrow, in fact, during my year-end maintenance routine. I have no plans to do anything else, like you mentioned (pulling the IMS bearing seal). If my car ever goes "BOOM".......I'll either part it out and buy another Porsche, or stuff a 3.6 or a 3.8 motor into it. And drive my 993 Turbo more while the work is being done on the Boxster.

    I have BIGGER FISH TO FRY. I can't worry about every possible internet issue with Porsches. I am on top of all my maintenance and take great care of my cars. If something breaks, I'll just fix it. Stroke the big check, and move on. No lost sleep. That's part of the price of addmission. Works for me. But, I understand it does not for everyone.

  8. Man that is really hard to say...Why not get all three! As much as I'm a Porsche fanatic I would think the M3 might suit your needs best. It a great car. Kids and the Porsche may not work that well...

    That being said Lots of peoplle have 911's and kids and get along just fine..

    And for $50k you can get a sweet 997 S with relatively low miles....Might even want to look for a 4S. look at 2006+ cars.. Too many issues with the 05's...

    Good luck with whatever you decide.. Those are all great cars. But the Benz is kind of a pig...(handling wise.)

  9. Epoxy is on the turbo engine not GT3

    If only, unfortunatly for GT3 this is a very large and real issue, many circuits won't even let a gt3 on if the hose fitting haven't been welded, deffo

    needs looking into with these engines.
