  1. Loren

so as per gert the difference between the 2 is that the x73 mount allows little more -Ve camber, not sure by how much and how this will effect my alignment? he mentioned, if he talks to porsche they will ask him to return it since they dont make the kit any more, so its up to me i f i want to return it, not sure what to do at this point ..

  2. Loren

Hi, I just got probably the last kit from Gert/carneval x73 kit for my 996 turbo, every think checked out but for whatever reason , I decided to cross reference all the parts installed.

the part # on the upper mount shows as 996 343 015 04 and 996 343 016 04 respectively, which is for the standard suspension as per the PET, I noticed the # on the rubber part of the mount.

    It should be for x73''' 996 343 980 15 and 996 343 980 16 as per the PET

so the question? is this a problem, whats the difference between the mounts, is the PET incorrect or porsche screwed up? the shocks are already installed as a kit. I want to be 100 % before I install it

    thanks

    Ronnie

  3. The best is a bumper removal, it is possible that the nozzle is separated partially, and that is only good visible with the bumper removed.

thanks so can this be fixed or do i have to put a new one?

You will need to see if the hose and/or clamp are leaking or if you have a cracked nozzle.

loren i noticed it was dripping from the bottom of the nozzle after removing the headlights, cant pinpoint exactly, is is normal for them to crack ? i think that could be my problem because i do not see any leak from the hose itself, i guess i have to remove the bumper now :(

  4. so i tested my head light washer system after a very long time and it started leaking from the bottom some where from the right side , I traced it down to right nozzle (i think) i removed the R head light and noticed thru a small opening that bottom of the R nozzle was dripping fluid (cant tell from where) the hose connected to the nozzle seems to be fine so iam not sure where it is leaking from the bottom of the nozzle, i am assuming a new nozzle, so do i need to remove the bumper to get to the nozzle, dosent seem like any other way, some 997 guys have accessed it via fog light , but for a turbo fog light assembly is different . any suggestion as to is it my nozzle and or if i need to remove my front bumper.

P.S I also read some where there the nozzle need adjusting as part of maintainence , not sure what that is

    thanks

  5. You can get the battery acid at NAPA, Autozone, etc.

thanks guys, ya i picked up a 5 liters of acid from autozone, as the battery took 4.5, it charged up in 5 hours or so with my ctec porsche charger which i was surprised as it took for ever to charge my current battery,

  6. i have a new moll kamina battery which shipped dry, two questions , do i fill it with acid only or mix it with water, and can i use any battery acid like from autozone or is there a specificacid i need to buy for this battery ,

ps i posted this in the 997/2 forum by mistake

  7. thanks guys, so here is the new scoop, i loaded a newer version of durametrics, it now reads the rear, but takes a long time, it now shows left tail light code and and unknown dtc code, i am assuming that is the right tail light, as i had started the car with tail lights disconnected, i tried erasing the codes , but fail to initialize, so basically now i can read the rear but not clear the codes . hmm. i will try applying power to pc

  8. i have a 2007 997 turbo, about year ago after installing the suspension, i checked with durametric and i was getting a rear module error , not sure what it is

    Rear Selected

    About to get fault codes

    moduleType = Rear9x7

    DTC Count = 1

    Fault Number:49448

    Description:Communication PAS (comfort)

    Repair Infomation:control modue

    ------------------------------------------------

after resetting i get this it failed to initialize then it was fine

    -------------------------------------------------------

    moduleType = Rear9x7

    DTC Count = 1

    Fault Number:0

    Description:Module Failed To Initialize

Repair Infomation:Check the status in the lower left corner of the screen. Make sure the key is in the ON position. The vehicle may not have this option or there may be a wiring problem to the computer. This could also be a module that simply failed to respond.

today i reset the ecu by disconnecting the battery and the rear module consistently fails to initialize, questions --what was the first error with rear and pas communications , and why is it not initializing now at all. i just intstalled a new exhaust, there are no other errors (only from the batt disconnect)

    loren any insight?

  9. Battery jump point or starter solenoid come to mind.

thanks for the reply loren , i thought about that, but then i have to run a wire from the front all the way to the back, i was hoping to pick something up in the engine bay. i could not find the starter becuase i was thinking of picking it ip from there. any ideas where it is. thanks

  10. Yes, the GT2 part is the 997 GT2.

I do not know if it is liquid filled - but I doubt it.

Use of 993 RS mounts would likely involve some customization work.

one more question, how can you tell it is a motorsport # for the gt2 and do you think they will be stiffer then gt2 and the turbo? how do i find this out, considering they will fit. thanks

    ronnie

  11. According to the parts list the GT3 and GT3 RS use the same motor mounts.

loren would yo say the gt3 mounts are the same as 997 tt, or are they stiffer/different? i am thinking os swapping it out

    All different.

    GT3 (and GT3 RS) uses 980.375.351.02

    997TT uses 997.375.049.08 (coupe) or 997.375.049.05 (cab)

    GT2 uses 997.375.049.91

If they fit (and I do not know for sure) I would use the GT2 mounts as they are Porsche MotorSport parts ($303 each vs. $180 for standard) -- unless of course if you have option I140 - Dynamic Engine Mounts (PADM)

thanks loren, the gt2 part you are reffering is that a 997 gt2 part, and is it liquid filled ? and what are your thoughts of the 993 rs mounts on a 997.1 turbo, i see few people installing that any feed back would be appreciated

    ronnie

  12. I am planning on installing sports springs on my 997 turbo. i have seen that there are many techniques in replacing the springs, some say remove the whole carrier, some say remove the strut , compress the spring in the car (nt sure how) and then rotate the strut rear an out. some say compress the spring with the rachet straps in the car, remove the main strut bolt and slide the spring out while the strut is in the car.

I am looking the least intrusive way to replace the springs, the less i take out the better !

    any suggestions

    thanks

  13. i started my car and as i backed up i got a cel light visit workshop. i drove the car for fer minutes and drove back. car is running fine. diagnostics shows up th e following codes. i reet the codes and monitired for a while on duramentrics for all cylinders, occasionlly couple cylindrs miss fired. and then all was fine.

    any idea why this happened.

    here are the codes

    997 Selected

    DME 7.8 (9X7) Selected

    About to get fault codes

    moduleType = MotronicDME78

    DTC Count = 5

    Fault Number:P0300

    Description:Misfiring

    Repair Infomation:checksum error

    DTC Count = 5

    Fault Number:P0302

    Description:Misfiring cylinder 2

    DTC Count = 5

    Fault Number:P0303

    Description:Misfiring cylinder 3

    DTC Count = 5

    Fault Number:P0305

    Description:Misfiring cylinder 5

    DTC Count = 5

    Fault Number:P0306

    Description:Misfiring cylinder 6

    thanks

  14. New to Renntech but ahead thanks for any info!

Looking into getting a 997. The one I'm interested in is pretty much dropped to the floor. Well done, no camber. But, since I'll be using this car more for function on the streets rather than style sadly, I kinda wanted it back close to stock height (or maybe just a tad lower than stock).

    1. Should I source out aftermarket springs and shocks or go back to the dealer and order OEM. I want a good ride to get me thru the daily potholes.

    2. If aftermarket, what brand do you guys recommend for the 997?

    3. Anyone know of a good post/link to how to lower a 997? That way I can reverse engineer how to raise my 997?

    Much appreciated...

i just ipgraded my base non pasm suspension for my c2 to a full m030 suspension, so I have the original full suspension left over, full assembly front and rear struts, front and rear sway bars with bushings. the suspesnsion had 7000 miles on it. let me know if you are interested.
