Yes, it looks like the nuts act as compression of some sort and not to hold the threaded stem in place. i removed the nuts and the lack of compression actually lets the throw work now. I'll contact B&M and see if I can get a new unit... I do not think I can get to the problem as it looks like its manufactured into the unit. I'll post here when i find out but for now i'm ok!

i just need to get the white bushing/washer in bottom left picture out and replace it, i don't think i need to remove everything? as you can see its deteriorated. i just can't figure out how to get the stem out where i removed the nuts?

Anyone recognize the manufacturer of this throw? I bought my 996 used and dealer says not stock. Left bushing is deteriorated as you can see making it very hard to shift to 2nd, 4th, etc. How do I get he stem out in order to get to the bushing. I removed the nuts but as you can see the stem is firmly in place. Thanks for your thoughts.

as a point of reference, i drove from Dallas to Waco saturday and the temp showed 107 degrees... it was 105 outside, my AC blew cold enough for me to actually turn it down (up?) meaning too cold in the cab. so if it is only 85 and you think its not cooling right, then my opinion is its not cooling right. 2003 C4S Black on Black.

Hmmm, not sure but usually thats a seal leak of some sort (unless the dealer left it outside with the sunroof open which is highly possible since BOTH seats were wet). I would have them clean it up, dry it out, detail the interior. then wait and see if you get any water on your floor boards (run it through a high pressure touchless car wash). If your carpet gets wet then you most likely have a door seal leak on the side that is wet. You can check for a door seal leak by running a fog/fake smoke machine inside the car and see if any of the smoke escapes (saw this on wheeler dealers on a DB7 :) ).

i noticed the same thing last month, i checked my oil and was half full on the electronic meter. i added some additional oil and i have not experienced the puff again.

Front bearings? Brake caliper lose, Bushings. Try this. drive at a few miles per hour then stop hard. then back up see if it pops when you back up? if it does then have someone stand by the car do it again. I once worked on a car that would only do it in the morning. when backing up out of the drive way. one that one it as front week bearing they would stick being parked all night but during the day it was fine.

Ok, this makes sense as it only happens in the morning or when car has sat for a long time. I will take a look at this as well.... so hard as its very difficult to repeat on demand.

Occasionally, when moving the car from parked position either forward or reverse i get a loud "pop" as if something was binding then released, best i can tell its coming from front right. I can't see anything obstructing any of the suspension or axles... anyone experienced this?

did you get an alignment when the wheels were replaced? Did you calibrate the steering angle sensor? (This will trip both PSM/ABS if not calibrated). I had same problem after alignment when the sensor was not calibrated. Once calibrated you need to clear the computer as well (there's some steps to that on this forum somewhere). I was told I had to replace the angle sensor ($825 new/ $400 from a dismantler). I went through the calibration steps and it hasn't tripped in over 400 miles now so I'm keeping my fingers crossed (it would trip within a minute before).
