In the pics when I look driving into troubles, my friend did a "good p-shop"

I'm not good at drifting and I don't want to see my car being destroyed.

I enjoy very much running but al least I prefer to be careful

  2. Hello everybody

My car has a little problem: PCM2 works perfectly, but in the telephone module, the SIM card tray is broken.

    simcardtraynd2.jpg

I read that you can repair this issue very easy, but I need the "spare piece". I want to purchase a new SIM Card tray, to repair it, but in Spanish Becker distribuitor don't sell pieces to private persons.

Porsche dealer wanted to change the complete PCM2 unit !! :soapbox:

I read that in USA Becker dealers do sell pieces :! :! :!

Could someone try to purchase this piece for me please?

  3. Are you sure your PCM2 is properly coded for telephone service?

You need to have them check (with a PST2 or PIWIS) the MOST coding to make sure it is set for telephone service and that it is recognized in the MOST components test.

Yesterday, I drove my car and had a conversation by phone with my girlfriend. It worked perfectly.

But Today, there is the same message 'Checking SIM'

I get off the card and put into the PCM II again and again, as the first day I used the phone, but It doesn't work

What do you think is coming?

  4. In Spain PCM I users who have 16 bits unit, are lucky men.

The last OEM Porsche CD ROM maps are referred to year 2.000. But someone found a compatibility with OPEL Siemens/Navteq Spain and Portugal 2.006-2.007 :o :o :o

I have a 996 '04 and my last update is referred to year 2.005

PCM I 16 bits owners are lucky in Spain B) B)

Why don't you try to search compatibility with other brands?

  5. great find! i've bought the other aluminum type gauge rings for my last 3 996's and each time shook my head in disbelief of the $140 price tag. i don't think even makes aluminum gauge rings?? right? but these companies are trying to fit in with porsche and charge outlandish prices just because it's a Porsche.

out of curiousity, how are these in comparison to the $140 variant? do these fit well and don't have any straggling pieces of plastic where the cut was not good? and go on with epoxy resin?

i need to buy some rings for my dad's new ride - fathers day gift that he has deserved for the last 30+ yrs :D

    They fit perfect.

I did it in 5 minutes with doble tape

This does seem like a great deal and per your experience the quality seems more than adequate. Whe nI try and open the link on ebay for the item, it states the seller has discontinued the item?? Did you purchase thru ebay or direct from auto innovations??

    TIA Demosan

    Not through ebay.

Just send an email to auto_innovation@yahoo.com

    The price is 46,99 $ + shipping

They told that Paypal is only accepted in US and I had to do a Money order from Spain thru Western Union

  7. I received the aluminum gauge rings yesterday morning.

I fit them in my P-car and here is the result (not a very good pic :P )

    img4894bx6.jpg

I think that they have enough quality to cost not more than 47,00 $

(For those who have interest, I purchased this kit in Auto_innovation@yahoo.com)

    This is the ebay link:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Aluminum-Ga...1QQcmdZViewItem

OEM rings are very expensive IMO, and I prefer to spend my money in other important things.

  8. My car had the floor mats in black colour, but the interior was in Metropol Blue. This combination wasn't good enough.

One of my best friends, Xavier gave me an OEM Metropol Blue floor mats. Thanks  Javi!!

    The car looks awesome now!

    img4890aj0.jpg

    img4891pn3.jpg

    img4895hm5.jpg

(If you don't order the car with proper interior colour mats included, It would come with OEM black floor mats)

  9. The original 996 (narrow body) had 7.5 inch wheels in front with 225 x 18 tires. The rears were 10 inch wheels with 265 x 18 tires. In MY02 Porsche changed the front wheel width to 8 inches with the same tire size. In MY02 the rear wheel width remained the same but the tire width went up to 285 x 18, The result was that the handling remained about the same (understeer vs oversteer).

So no, wider tires on the rear will cause more understeer. You can counter balance that with wider wheels and/or tires in the front.

    Thanks Loren

  10. Hi!

Another victim of the RMS leak, for the moment, it is the first time. This week my car is in the Porsche Zentrum in Barcelona for do the change of RMS. Now it has 26.000 kilometers. I hope that there was the first and only.

It leaked some oil but after the last official maintenance the leak increase a lot. I think it was for the difference of viscosity.

I will tell you more in the next days.

    Thank you.

    JuanMa.

    Joder Juanma , que putadón!!

You were looking up to the bulls-eye when you said that almost the 40% of 996 had the RMS problem... :o

  11. The Holy Grail....

I am still on my 7th. Car hasnt been out much this year due to me working too hard :(

But its going in to have the new seal fitted within the next month.......by my independent of course!

Hi, Scouser. Is the 7th the GT3 Motorsport seal installed backwards that you previously wrote was the end-all solution? Thanks.

No. I was supposed to have that fitted back in May at my last service but the seal wasnt leaking so we left it. The 7th held up for the longest yet but alas it is now leaking again. So, it will go on again to have the 8th done. Now the question is do I go with the new 997 one, the 4th in the line of seal types or do I go to the GT3 deal fitted backwards. My independent seems to think the later will genuinely fix the problem for good. We will see what they suggest in November.

Bernie, I can´t understand this story... I took it badly :cursing:

Let's see if the GT3 backwards installed, really fits the problem.

Don't you think about selling the car and look for another? Or getting the engine replaced?

  12. Last week I've made a couple of consultations, one of them with Porsche Germany, about the possibility of installing the MO30 kit for a lower suspension on a 02 996 Targa. According to my informations, it is not possible "because of the heavier roof". However, I understand that other Targa owners have this kit installed and I wonder if anyone could post his experience about that and, overall, if anyone has inputs about the compatibility of the MO30 kit and the Targa from Porsche.

    Kind regards

    Hi Abate !

In Porsche Order Guides 996 (MY03 Carrera/Targa) the option code M030 is not allowed.

    But I agree with you.

The RoW M030 suspension kit, is not too much stiffer than the standard

Perhaps it could be installed without any problem.

Let's see if someone could help you at this point, and tell what about the noise, crickings ,behaviour and well operating system of the sun roof
