Mods4cars "remote key" is a great addition. Look for a group buy, or just purchase it, for chirp and passenger window one touch up alone.

Just replaced OEM Bridgestones at 23K, rears down to markers, fronts have a few K left.
Bought Sport Classic package with PS2's will replace with Bridgestones when worn out!!!!

Thanks, short wire to fuse box bolt works fine! If a problem ensues I will use the other location.
-
If you have homelink, you have to carefully pop out the 2 outer buttons to get to the screws.
the buttons come apart easily so be sure you remove the entire button assembly, not just the top of the button.
Ask me how I know....several times.
-
generally 12-14K rears nearly twice as much on the fronts, depending on driving, tire pressure and alignment.

My cousin did this trade also. His wife thought the 911 had too harsh a ride and had too small a luggage capacity for long trips they liked to take.He loves his Turbo, but still misses has 997S.

Use one of the screws or bolts that holds the fuse block to the body. That will work fine.
Thanks!
Will check this out!!

I am reinstalling my RemoteKey module in my 09S PDK. The original wiring directions had me tapping into existing wiring, which threw codes.
I want to reinstall by plugging into fuse block for power, no problem, But I need a good grounding place.
I would welcome a suggestion, before I retap into another unknown ground wire.

Like wise. I added PSE to my 06S, which I loved and Just added it to my 09S with my off/on switch, as before, and I love it!

Curious if anybody has seen this. My PCM 2.1 nav system intermittendly confronts me with the question "Load new map data?" (screenshot below). This happens without me having done anything - i.e. not ejected/reinserted the nav disk. It happens every couple of days when I start the car in the garage or a parking lot and I have also had it while driving along. Really strange. I always answer yes, a progress bar apprears and shows the load progress and after a minute or so everything seems normal again. Nav works, music plays, etc.
Anybody got any ideas why this could be? I doubt it has anything to do with it, but for completeness, I have a mobridge with blutooth on the MOST bus as well as the bose system but no CD changer. 06 C2S cab, Porsche nav system dealer installed 8 months ago.
I had that randomly, with my 06S, Dension, bta-1500,bose and no CD changer , after updating to 08 map software and map data. It went away eventually, or at least became less of a problem.
They could try a reinstall of the updated Maps, There is a new version out now, anyway.

Larry:
Are you getting complete kit or only tips and what is dealer charging?
I am getting the complete kit, but wiring my own ashtray, off/on switch.

Princeton had a 25% off sale, last year, so the kit was cheaper than sunset price.
Expect install to be around $500 +/-

2010 997 2 C4S Cab
Car is being delived later this week. I traded a '06 997 S Cab Midnight Blue/Tan Sport Exhaust.
http://dealerrevs.com/gallery/photo.php?id=19036899
It looks just like this picture and I'll post some pics next week. Very excited but I live in Boston so it won't see any action for a few weeks.
This is it:
Cream White
Cocco top
Cocco leather
Makassar Wood
PDK
Sport Chrno
Sport Exhaust
Turbo Wheels
and a few other things
Don't know if you've seen the new sport exhaust tips but very nice high tech look.
Beautiful car. Enjoy!!!
I live part time in Needham, and in Lawrenceville the rest.
The dealership is great, sounds like you got a great deal.
Too bad they probably won't be doing your service.
My Sport exhaust goes on this week.
See you around.

saw these a few minutes after postin my question
I have a "Moweraxle" Model for my '06 c4 and love it. High quality!
Had a Moweraxle one on my 06 and transferred it to my 09. Well made, good product.

Didn't have multifunction wheel on my 06 and got it on my 09, was used to it on my other cars and use it quite a bit.
Have had pasm on both and the 09 is a bit stiffer in normal ride, but I am used to it now.
No regrets on either!

Having searched this site and others in vain for specific info on the proper tool to remove the top mounted oil filter housing on my 2009 Carrera S, I finally found an answer and thought I'd share it.
My local dealer refused to sell me a Porsche tool for the job, without checking to see if one even exists. So I called Sunset Imports, a board sponsor. Parts couldn't find a listing yet for 2009 in their tool reference, but went to check with a mechanic. According to him, there is no specialized tool yet; he uses a 36mm 12 point socket for the job. (I was able to find one for about $8 at my local Sears). He also very helpfully offered the info that the filter canister should be loosened before pulling the drain plug, as an additional 1/2 quart of oil is released into the sump when that happens. I imagine that it wouldn't matter if you loosened the filter after pulling the plug as long as the drain pan was still in place, but clearly the important point is not to button up the sump before loosening the filter. Personally, I'm just going to follow the mechanics advice.
Anyway, hope this helps someone, and kudos to Sunset Imports!
I got this one, a 6 point, they all work and much cheaper than the one for my 06S.

I have an '09 C4S with satellite radio. I am supposed to be able to change my music selection using the left lower lever on the steering column. It works perfectly for FM radio and CD's but intermittently it will not function for the satellite radio. When I active "Audio" with the lever and Satellite Radio is active on the radio sometimes the onboard computer screen just goes blank. At other times it works perfectly. The dealer "reloaded the software" to correct the problem but it still is an intermittent problem. This occurs probably about half the time. It's not a big deal but it is a function that I paid for and it doesn't work. Has anyone else had this experience?
MWS
How about when you select it from source button on PCM? I have multifunction wheel and it works fine, have never use the stalk to select it.

With only 800 miles on my 997.2S PDK I got 28mpg in normal at 75 from NJ to MA on 287 to 64 to 90...

Or RemoteKey if you have a coupe!!
-
The update allows you to receive traffic updates, which do not work in the US, allows you to purchase and have logbook installed for $800 + dollars and allows you to have extended Navigation installed for another $400+.... But you do get new maps and a fake leather CD case...

Grommet behind battery into cabin!
-
Right, "Please observe the chapter “Individual Memory” in the separate PCM operating instructions." Does anyone have that chapter or know where it is? I couldn't find it.
Up top -Documents- owners manuals- 06 Carrera
Sorry, I thought you didn't have the manual!

No need for a 997 specific article , the hardware , layout and install is identical. If your car already has BOSE , NAV and a CD changer the install is even simpler. Just make sre you get the DUAL FOT gateway 500 unit and it plugs in place of the existing CD changer. All you need do is use the end connections in the kit to make up the fibre optic link cable , plug it in and use the power and ground cables from the existing CD changer as points to connect a scotchlock connector to power the dension. I put my desnion on top of the existing Cd changer tray and use USB for my MP3. If you wanted , you could also put the I pod in the same location or run a cable back into the car. There are about 8 screws to remove the plastic trim in the front trunk, the CD and NAV caddy are removed by pulling the cradle towards the front of the car. Then you can get to all the wiring. A small drill to make a few holes for the fixing scres, some wire tap (scotchlock connectors) and the job is done. Really it,s no more than an hours work.
With existing CD changer, basic installation is very simple, just change plugs and add electric. Only difficulty is running the controller, USB and ipod , if you want to, inside the car, because closest grommet is behind battery and you will need extensions for these cords.
believe me very simple to do...you even retain CD changer use.
