  1. yes, that is the relay box. As Loren says, third from the left...the big black one. Swap it out for the one that works with LEDs. I bought mine from superbrightleds.

Thanks. Though from Loren's description, the relay you refer to is not on the top row. I pulled it anyway, and replaced with the one from superbrightleds.com, and my lights still hype flash on turn signal. So to confirm, it is the large black one in the picture that needs replacing?Thank you,Keytohwy
  2. Fremont Porsche seems to have the best pricing in Bay Area. Scott is a big help.

+1 on this. I called all the Bay Area dealers the other day looking for quotes on Oil Pressure Sender

Steven's Creek - off the charts expensive

Stead - Never returned my call

Fremont - Scott was great. Quoted price lower than Pelican, even before PCA discount. And he had the part number memorized ;)

Livermore - never returned my call

Sonnen - Price competitive with Fremont

Rector - price competitive with Fremont

I'll continue to try to use these guys when I can. Bummer that Stead, my closest dealer, couldn't be bothered to return my call.

  3. Johnny, I bought a small part from Steven's Creek in San Jose. Pricing was very much in line with what online retailers were charging. It also felt good to do business locally. I haven't had the need for a ton of parts, but I look forward to working with them more often. I'm closest to Walnut Creek/Stead, but with my job, I travel all over the Bay area so I can shop around a bit next time I am in need.

    Good luck!

  4. Recently, I did some work which left my battery not strong enough to start my car. I quickly checked the manual, as this is the first time I experienced this with my Porsche and I didn't want to do anything wrong. Anyway. I learned about the terminals to use in the engine bay...and it said NOT to pop start the car as it could damage the cats. Any truth to this? My driveway and street are on an incline and while it wasn't a pain to jump start, a second option would be nice should need demand it.

    Any thoughts?

  5. Question... can any Apple/Mac products work with the Durametric system. I saw on their web site that it is only compatible with P/C platforms. Is there any alternative to that?

    Thanks,

I recently got the Pro version (to share with "the cadre of compulsive Porsche people") and use it on my MacBook Air. On the MacBook, I run virtualbox with Windows XP. So, it will work on a Mac, but it needs to be inside of a vm. Let me know if you need more details.

  6. So I've had my car for a few weeks now, and my first real DIY went awry, so I'll be in need of a shop soon to deal with it (air bag removal to fix horn). But I'm also looking for a shop to use going forward for issues too big for me that might arise. I'm in Benicia, so basically, the East Bay is ideal, but I can be in San Jose in an hour, or Sacramento in an hour.

I posted the same on another board, but there seems to be a fair number of Bay Area owners here, so I thought I'd ping you all as well.

    Thanks!

  7. Thanks for the responses, but I've thrown in the the towel. I just couldn't get anything to bite enough when I turned the wrench, so I didn't want to damage further.

If anyone knows a good indy in NorCal that is willing to tackle something like this, please let me know. My guess is that with the right tools and know how, it is a 5 minute job (to loosen the screw).

    Thanks again for everyone's input.
