If this is a 2002 or newer car and the belt tensioner fired in an accident - then the belt tensioners will need to be replaced.
Starting in MY2002 the belt tensioners are pyrotechnic (like your airbags) - if fired they must be replaced.
this is a 2004 GT3 - someone in the forums said that you in the states only have the pyrotechnic tensioners - we in europe have electric?
i attach a foto of the tensioner

hi
i bought a 996 gt3 mk2 last week, the airbag light was on, i checked the fault codes with durarmetric but dont thougt fixing would be no big problem.
after going in depth - i saw there is already an other airbag control module installed - nbr 996.618.219.00 (they was build for cars until 2001)
the fault codes with this module are
37 belt tensionier, driver´s
38 belt tensionier, passenger´s
56 side airbag sensor, passenger
i take the airbag sensor out of the car and ordered a good one (should come in a few days).
if i install the original airbag module nbr. 996.618.219.02 the fault codes are
194 control module internal fault
20 ignition circuit driver
23 belt tensioner drivers
25 belt tensioner passengers
27 ignition circuit passenger
3 supply voltage
21 ignition circuit driver
29 ignition circuit - side airbag driver
31 ignition circuit - side airbag passenger
53 side airbag sensor - driver
are the two modules compatible? the face lift model uses also other seatbelts?
what should i do - buying a control modul 996.618.219.02 or are the seatbealts defect (after an accident?).
why my module shows side airbag drivers as defective and with the module from the 2000 996 it shows a failure on the passenger side?
how i can check if the belt tensioner is faulty or are the unuseable after an accident??
bye

i attach two files with the fault codes with the two different modules

now i have changed the passenger crash sensor (close to the seat belt tensioner) and from 4 fault codes there are still 3 there
only the nbr 87 sensor passenger airbag is gone but nbr 56 with the same failure is still there?
now i have ordered 2 new seatbelts and a airbag control module from a 2004 on
i hope this works or is there another sensor on the passenger side?
