  1. Thanks an hr ago I ordered a used head from OK foreign. The engine was a takeout for a replacement engine due to a Blance shaft issue? He didint know mileage since it was a take out but it was from a 2000 or 2001. It will end up being about 1500 less for using a used head thats rebuilt once it arrives.

    Sorry I missed this thread. I have a set of heads off a 2000S. :o

  2. Richard- Thanks for the reply. Here are the readings:

    1st test- Ohmmeter at plug 1, alarm control module pin 23 and DME plug 88 should display <5ohms - actual reading -250 @ 2000k

    2nd test- Ohmmeter at plug 1, alarm control module pin 23 and ground should display infinite- actual reading out of range

    3rd test - Voltmeter at plug 1, alarm control module pin 23 and ground with ignition switch on should display 0 Volts - Atual reading 5.37v

    So failed the 3rd test. Will try replacing the alarm control unit. Lets hope that is it.

    Any other input will be appreciated.

  3. After replacing the engine car will not start. Using Durametric tool, only codes are alarm related:

    21 No engine start possible

    60 Central locking limit position locked

    49 No communication with PST2

    16 No unlocking of doors in event of accident

    33 No passenger compartment monitoring

    Since the last race I have removed radio and A/C and all of its components, removed passenger side airbag as well as door (both) airbags, removed airbag system controller.

    I understand that the only way to clear alarm related codes is a PST2. Any additional help/comments are appreciated.

  4. Just finish putting in the new engine, a 2003 Variocam Plus on a 2000S....

    The display on post 2003 cars are different from the pre 03 ones. It's kinda like a dot matrix display. Also, the wiring is different so I guess you would pretty much need to swap out the current wiring harness and display if you were to use a new DME. Post 03 cars were using the tidier Controller Area Network (CAN) wiring.

    Hope I'm not talking rubbish

    I am aware of the CAN bus on the 03 cars, but isn't the CAN bus just for the accesories such as A/C, navigation system, etc? or is it an interface for something else like gauges. I failed to mention this is a full time track car.

  5. Just finish putting in the new engine, a 2003 Variocam Plus on a 2000S. Since there is no fuel return on the 03 fuel system, I had to exchange fuelrails, keeping the 03 injectors. I am aware that I have to get a new DME - 7.8, but the shop manual also mentions that oxygen sensors and MAF were upgraded in 03. Can someone confirm this info ? and has anybody successfully swap engines? What is the part # for the MAF?

  6. Radio stopped working on my 2003TT. There is power but no "Porsche" on the display or audio. I remember a couple of weeks ago, it made a clicking noise when I entered the car. Did it a couple of times. Anyone had this problem? Is still under warranty but I'm curious.

  7. I lost the engine on a 2000 S. Right now I have 2 engines in stands next to each other. The old engine is a Variocam F1 while the new one is a variocam plus (I was told an 03). I noticed there are some differences like a couple of sensors, fuel injectors and fuel rail, the position of the plug wires/coils. There is also a difference in the pins on the wiring harness even though the plugs are the same. So, is there a difference between the 00S and the 03S DMEs? Has anyone come across this? Edwin.
