Dealership just performed a recall on my '09 Boxster S ... replaced the clutch switch. Service manager told me the switch fails preventing engine start.

Fortunately an easy fix. Because the old vents were cracked the dealer was able to remove them without taking the whole dash apart ... new ones snapped right in. They also performed a recently released recall relating to a clutch switch. Service manager said the switch fails preventing engine start ... glad that's done!

Upon closely inspecting my new purchase (2009 Boxster S), I noticed the right center and right HVAC vents are cracked and even have a small bit of trim missing. I inquired with my local Porsche dealership service manager who advised the replacement parts and repair would be covered under warranty! Apparently this has been a problem with Boxster/Cayman for many years ... hot vents and cold A/C = breakage. While pleased to hear of the warranty coverage, it was disappointing to hear this issue has existed for many years without a permanent fix.
I couldn't find mention of this problem within the forum so I thought I'd create a new topic. Anybody familiar with this issue? Any thoughts as to why Porsche wouldn't engineer a proper solution?
