  1. Hey guys, my first post, I need to clear up some confusion I have regarding the PCM 2.0 CD NAV and the PCM 2.1 DVD NAV retrofit kits as I'm about to pull the trigger and equip my '04 Cayenne V6 which has only the CD player, no PCM. I've read everything I could, but still slightly lost.

My first question: Will the 2.1 DVD kit even work with an '04 Cayenne? After reading the TSBs, I see that the part numbers for the head unit in each kit are different(955.642.204.05 for the 2.0 kit and 955.642.204.10 for the 2.1 kit). Also, this kit involves a separate DVD drive, while the 2.0 kit doesn't. I've read that NAV CDs will no longer be updated but the DVDs of course will be, making a DVD drive that much more attractive.

The fact that the head units have different part numbers makes buying a head unit from ebay a little scary, if I were to take that route. How many different head units are there? I've seen old ones with just the CD/CDC buttons and the newer ones with the phone buttons. The TSBs for both kits show very similar illustrations of the face of the head unit. Pictures of part number labels from the back of the headunits posted on autions by the ebay sellers don't seem to show a porsche part number. Suppose you installed only the head unit from the 2.1 kit: would it work with NAV CDs without the DVD drive?

I'll hold the rest of the questions for now!

    Thanks for reading!

    Hello

2.1 Kit will works in any cayenne. of course 2 part numbers for two absolutely different devices. Dvd update - yes.

2.1 with phone button, in europe at least. No part# on labels. no cd rom for nav in 2.1 unit.

I suggest you do not use ebay. Ask porshe shop for device with sighn "X" in the end of part number - means Rebuilded. Cost chirpper.

    Regards.

  2. I guess that would be PCM 2.0 to PCM 2.1 would this be a plug and play upgrade?

First, PCM2.1 Retrofit kit includes head unit, navi, copper wires with some connectors. no manuals, no optic cables, no dvd cover.

No, you should connect system tester to make codings in pcm modules and gateway units, all depend from year of the car.

But in common case system should work, with errors and not all devices, C-F, km-Mls, FM/AM step

In some cases you should connect tester to switch unit on first time, or wake unit up.

You need slightly modify wiring for head unit if where no tel unit installed/ sos button in roof console.

A lot of variants, suggest to do it in workshop, it should be about 7.5 hours to pay, including all - removing/installing all trims, and roof lining, seat, gps antenna and routing all cables. In fact, it take up to two days.

  3. Hello! Here is some about Dension. We have one installed last week in 2005 CT, works good, sound and control is great, switch playlists from steereng wheel!!! Tags display ok, but sometime playlist and traks swith with delay, don know why, may be we used old NANO - manual notify about last firmware in Ipod. Installation not so difficult, but I think you should be skilled in cayenne and electronics to install this unit. You can hide unit in the trunk on your choice - if f you have CD changer or amplifier installed. And do not forget swith unit back to changer if one installed before leave a car in dealers workshop - danger to pay money for fixing error in most ring - cd changer))))

    OVERALL - NICE, RECOMMENDED.

    Alex

PS As I know, difference between software versions of PCM can cause different "bugs" in controllig unit, especially regarding 2003-2004 MY.

  4. Thanks for you response Alex, but I am still confused (It doesn't take much sometimes!)

but what would turn the parking light on (the first turn of the light switch?) , and what is lower corner-sensitive light?

Also, no warnings in the display. I have tried moving the switch to all settings and cannot get the light to come on, on either side.

    thanks

    Mark

Parking lights - turn switch from off to any position, or swith on turn signal with ignition key removed. Lamps (or lamp) should be on, same time with tail lights)))))))) else look for error messages.

May be go to veh.info->warnings in cluster menu. Else go to workshop(((((( Remember - all head and tail lamps has diagnosis, and if some off but no messages - chek control units, I suggest before bulb replacement. In some cases reinitializing brains solve problems.

Corner sensetive lights - lower lenses - comes brighter when you turn steerin wheel from center position on to ~5 deg. works with deep or high beams.

    Hope it will help.

  5. Looks really good, same leather, and very important - you can adjust screens in vertical because headrests can not be moved. Headphone included, Installation should take about full day in porsche workshop, not so difficult, but need to remove a lot of parts - seats, carpets, right trim in the trunk. bad news - dvd player installed on rear seat and you can not seat at center - not so difficult to fix, another bad news - no connection to front screen pcm/cdr system - no video, no audio - it is not so easy to solve, depend of car age and equipment installed. And last bad news - only ONE SCREEN, phones and dvd player included in kit. If you want second screen - order separately. Hope this is all.

    Alex.

  6. yor can reconnect lamps in side markers in parralel to headlights turns to reach european style, but be shure to connect to proper wires to aviod error mesages on dash.

    Enjoy your drive

Got detailed instructions on this? I did not know you could defeat the error message...

Try to disconnect bulb, turn on lights and drive a little. If no errors - you are winner. I did this 3 days ago on 2005 S

    Alex.

  7. Are the back up lights and cornering lamps controlled by the same fuse/relay? I can't imagine that both back up bulbs would go bad at the same time and then start working again and now the same thing happens with the cornering lamps?

    Any suggestions?

No, front light controlled directly by Electrical system ctrl unit in front, rear light controlled by rear control unit. regarding front cornering light - did you remove light? in this case you should use original contact spray before put light assy back, described in workshop manual, not in user book. in case light was not removed - if lamps below hid lenses works ok depend of turning steering wheel - keep in yor mind to replace bulb in closest future. same with back lamps. both of them connected in parralel to one output and if you seen warnings it means lamps(95%%) or contacts will take your attention soon.

    Enjoy yuor drive
