  1. The audiopilot seems to be reading the microswich on the top. It seems to not do anything as best I can tell if the top is up. In the summer I use a red-clip to make the interior sensor on the alarm work with the top down. Sometimes when I drive off I forget to remove the clip, once at highway speeds it become very noticeable audiopilot is not working. When I remove the clip it starts working correctly.

  2. Does anyone know if the side swivel sun visors on the 997 coupe can be fitted to a 987 Boxster? Sometimes the sunglasses don't cut enough of the sun. It would be nice to be able to rotate the sun visor to the left or right to block it. Is this possible? Otherwise I end up wearing a hat side ways looking like some MTV dork.

    Any thoughts? Part numbers?

    Thanks!

  3. Anyone have experience with swapping climate controls on a 987 (I imagine a 997 would be similar)?

On my 996's, the climate control 'box' was a swap-in unit.

Is this also true of the 987S? I accidentally didn't include auto climate control on my 987S order (d'oh!). If I can order the auto climate head unit and it's just a swap out in the center console tower, then I might explore it. But if it's more involved, well I'll learn to live with the slight inconvenience (and remember to quadruple check orders before I sign off!).

    Thanks,

    Tom

I did the same thing on my '06 S. I asked my service manager and he just laughed and told me it would be price prohibitive. I'd already spent 3K on the stupid phone upgrade so he knows I'd spend the money.

I live in Arkansas; max A/C with the top down is required sometimes.

  4. I have an 06 S that came with the 19" Continental's. I have about 18,000 miles on the car and I'm on my third set of rear tires. All have been replaced due to catching debris (nails etc) and forming bubbles on the side walls. I'm 100 miles from the dealer so I have to deal locally and order the tires from Tire Rack. After this third time I called the dealer and he recommended I switch to the Michelin Pilots next time. From a driving point of view the Continentals are great, I'd just like to see a bit more life from them.

  5. I ordered the Cayman side vents from Suncoast a couple of days ago. Price was around $120 shipped. (Note these are unpainted unlike the ones from BumperPlugs.)

Reading this thread and others had me concerned that I would have to order the vent frames seperately so I just called Suncoast. They said it was a complete kit and included the frame and everything needed to install them.

Any thoughts on what a reasonable price is for a body shop just to paint my new vents arctic silver?

Here is my break down from bumper plugs, do remember these are arriving painted, but man it's taking forever.

    Side Vents, no core, $279

    Vent Frames, $75

    Door Plug, $13.95

    Clear Sidemarkers for 987, $32

    Shipping estimate: $11

More than double the price, even painted seems a bit high. I've said before I'll reserve judgement until they arrive. I don't mind a premium price, as long as it's a premium product.

  6. The Cayman frames are 987 504 749 02 01C and 987 504 750 02 01C. The mounting clips for the frames are the same for 987/Cayman so I guess they are not needed. For the price he charges I would think the frames were included.

Thank you very much. I'll withhold commenting on price until I see the quality.

I found out the frames are not included. The set was just $75 so I had him add it to my order. Thanks for the info, I would have been quite frustrated to not be able to install them when they arrive without more parts.

  7. I've got a set of painted Cayman vents coming from Eric@Bumperplugs.com. I was under the impression this would be a direct swap for the vents on my 987S. Now I'm not so sure. Can anyone verify if it is or isn't a direct swap and if not what parts I'll need to facilitate this swap? I'll post pics when done.

    Thanks!
