Do ny of you know where the rev dial control signal comes in?? I thought it was pin 14 on the white cluster plug (TN signal), but this shows no sign of voltage variation during reving.................is this because it is a PWM signal??
If anyone can help, please please let me know.

So a question for you all, in the spirit of the OBC hack etc. Can the addition of a sport button and the wiring plus the enabling of SPORT with the PIWIS, could this add the sport functions ie The more responsive throttle etc ???
-
Hello folks. I own a 2003 "S". This weekend I installed the OBC Hack using a switch as opposed to a stalk. I used a Heated Seat switch (as I had one handy for some reason). Anyway, after a little bit of trouble shooting, I was able to get the OBC display to function properly. The only problem that I now have is that the computer stays on after I've shut the car down and removed the key from the ignition. All else seems to function properly with this one exception. Does anyone have any ideas what might be wrong? My initial thought is that maybe the heated seat switch is not appropriate for this hack as it is a 2 stage switch. Otherwise, it might be a problem with my wiring.
Any ideas would be truly appreciated. Thanks so much in advance for the troubleshooting help.
Vince
Does the display turn off after you lock the car?

Ward,
Don't expect a harder ride out of 5mm wheelspacers... Nick, can you provide more detail on your observed ride changes after adding spacers? While it would increase the leverage your wheel/hub assembly has on the suspension geometry and damper, it's odd that the ride would get noticeably sharper or harder. Such a change almost sounds like your dampers are worn out and blowing through their stroke on compression.
I think I paid roughly $225 for the 5mm spacers, which come with longer wheel studs, a must from a safety point of view. The looks on the car arent that much different, but the ride is harder and more suited for the track.ps They are easy to self install.
My dampers are fine, when I say 'harder' what I mean is you can feel the bumps more and you correctly state this is due to the increased leverage that the wheel/hub assembly has. The other thing a driver may notice, especially on worn blacktop roads is it is more likely to 'tram line' ie it tracks the slight hollows that the traffic has worn in the road which are more noticeable with a wider track.
I still like the ride all the same.

Just got a letter today stating that my "Porsche automobile may benefit from a product improvement campaign". Too late to call them tonight, so I was wondering if anyone else has received a letter like this.. Is this Porsche's term for a recall notice?
Thanks,
Brant
Keep us posted to what this relates to....

I've finished painting my center console and was wondering if there any tips out there on how to put it back in without causing scratches?
Check out the instructions on the B&M website for installing their short shifter. I would also add mask off the front corners and areas near the seat belt clips on the console with painters tape, you can also remove, not just the front storage bins but also the frame for more access, but above all else be very patient.

Has anyone got the pin outs for the instrument cluster plugs, especially plug C (the green one) for a 2004 Boxster S.
(including wire colors if possible)
regards and thanks in advance

Check of the interactive catalogue. It now links the PET to there product list.
(No I do not get paid by them, I just seem to buy lots from them!)

Several have appeared both laptop and kts versions on ebay, some even from the US

This maybe the answer for you I discovered this whilst fitting a short shift kit:

I got my VW parts from a VW garage.

VW (Yes VW) part number 000.979.010 (It is a wire with a pin either end)

Just a thought, your tires were new and you did have a full tank of gas, didn't you ???

Also had this same problem on my wifes 2000 996. We were lucky as the warranty was still good for the work.

My air struts for my rear deck lid no longer support the lid and wing. I assume when the deck was added they increased the strut strength to account for the wing. Can someone tell me the correct part number (Porsche or otherwise) for struts for Aerokit deck lids? I could just go by the part number on the current struts but I want to make sure I replace them with ones that will support the deck/wing.
Alan
There are no special gas struts for the aerokit the original part number is 986 512 551 01 (x2)

SURFLEX is the product you should use. They do all the porsche interior colors and if you want to match a color faded leather they offer a matching service.

Here it is.......

I was led to believe that the part number for a 2000 996 C2 front bumper is 996 505 311 04 but I have come across one with a part number of 996 505 111 02.
If this a compatible part number ?

Its actually easier to remove the plastic front bracket held in by the torx bolts than trying to turn the allen key locks.
