  1. Some dealers will scratch their heads and think you have gone mad. But the details on how to enable both the OBC and cruise functions can be found on here. So if in doubt print these off and take them with you. Better still (depending on were you are) find someone on here who has access to a PST2 and will help you out. Dealers may charge for the service.

  2. Thanks Nick, I found that and bought both disc 2 & 3, just waiting for it to arrive.

The Knottingham Porsche called me to say Porsche Germany replied to them, there is CD Update kit for 2003 which he said updates the firmware to 2.1 He could ot say what the year map up date is, nor is if will work on CD Based PCM 2.0 software version 3.0. The set is £415 with VAT. Does anyone else out there know anyting more a about a CD firmaware 2.1 PCM update?

The PCM discs you have brought on ebay do require the PCM software to be at version 3.0. You can find out the version of your software by turning on the PCM and pressing MAIN and TRIP at the same time.

The update is covered under TSB 13/04 which is available for view on here to contributing members. The update was part of a campaign that was necessary in the US to allow the use of the newly issued Map CDs the update was free at the time.

The CD to update your PCM is available from pelican parts ($1.98) Part Number 000 043 205 46. If your car also has BOSE you will also require Part Number 000 043 205 50. With both CDs and the TSB you should be able to upgrade your PCM software yourself to allow you to use the map discs you bought on ebay.

    hope that helps you

  3. http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=12175

That guy bought a used one from a 2003 Boxster S on ebay for $127.50. Would have to look up the part number to see if it is dot matrix.

Make him an offer if he does not use it....

Thanks for that TP. Am I correct though, the mileage cannot be reset by the dealer to the true milage being transfered from the old used cluster, it can only be done with a new one?

  4. Having just completed the 4-Stalk hack for OBC and Cruise in my 2004 Boxster S I am wondering if it is possible to swap the complete instrument cluster for the LCD version.

If it is possible what additional work is required other than swaping the complete cluster?

Having swapped the cluster can the cluster be enabled by the use of just the PST or PIWIS or do you need access to the IPAS?

(I am assuming a new cluster rather than second hand)

  5. I have just put one of the 2point5 'Spec.Dock' units into my wife's 2000 996 C2 and I must admit it looks way better than having a cradle as the unit replaces the ashtray. I know they also do a unit that interfaces with the later MOST system that you can control the iPod from either the CDR-23 or the PCM, and I think you will find the price very reasonable.

Installation was very straight forward and the post purchase support was great.
