  1. It looks like the same problem I experienced earlier this year in my 2010 958 Diesel. My car was still under extended warranty and my local Porsche Centre told me they had seen this problem in several other 958s in the last couple of years. The leak I think was transmission fluid because I was told that when it was repaired, that the sump oil was not affected. The repair took about a week and was an 'engine out' job requiring new seals between block and transmission from Germany.

  2. I have recently bought a Cayenne Diesel second-hand which came with the air-suspension option. I didn't really have any need for this option and im told that when it fails or has problems, that it is an extremely expensive exercise to repair or replace. Does any body know whether it is feasible (if and when it does give problems) to replace it with conventional struts?

    I note in your oil change tutorial for the 996tt you list the range of recommended oils in north America as follows:

    Castrol Syntec 5W-50 5W-50 ncp G
    Castrol Syntec 5W-40 5W-40 ncp GL
    Mobil 1 0W-40 ncp GL (factory fill)
    Mobil 1 5W-40 ncp GL
    Mobil 1 5W-50 ncp GL
    Mobil 1 Tri-Synthetic Formula 0W-40 ncp GL
    Texaco Havoline Synthetic 5W-40 ncp GL

    Here in Australia Castrol produce a 0w-40 product in their 'Edge' series of oils. Given that the 'factory fill' oil is a 0w-40 product from Mobil, would it not be a better choice than the 5w-50 or 5w-40 oils?
