  2. Hi as mentioned earlier I'm going to check the horn to see if it is that... car is honking continuously though whenever she has experienced the issue while driving. Would the car horn do that? kind regards and thanks as always Harinder
  3. Hi Loren I will check when I get home today. The horns thing I picked up from reading around the forum and will definitely look under the seat Many thanks Harinder
  4. Morning/Afternoon/Evening global people :D Boxster 99 - issue with alarm according to the wife. When she's driving the alarm goes off on occassion. She's tried to stop it by pressing button on keys but this doesn't work. She can however still drive the car, park up, get out and lock up (haven't seen this myself but I believe her... after all I married her!) ideas? i've read around and asked her to try the horn just in case something is up there Your help, as always, is truly appreciated
  5. Update!!!! Received V5 doc (ownership documentation) and would you believe it the previous owner is telephone directory listed :-D Info gathered - they had 2 keys... one for doors and other for, yes you guessed it, the ignition - the damage caused was by driving against a hedge - no idea where 2nd key is. The insurance company took both when they wrote it off - prior to write off it had been serviced, new exhaust fitted, new tyres as well as clutch - they received the car with 2 keys so had planned to go "single key" but due to servicing and other aformentioned costs decided not to - they have the full service history which they can dig out to post to me - errr they live in Newcastle upon Tyne :-) so - next steps would be to work out how to fit a new lock and key. Assuming I can change the ignition lock switch and the barrel what else would I need to do here? Please folks - all help is truly appreciated and special thanks to the extremely nice Aussie fella Pete who PM'd me :-) my kindest regards as always Harinder
  6. pulled emergency release for boot/bonnet, disconnected battery, did above then reconnected and she cried louder than my niece after her first injection :-D and now the saga continues... taken to Porsche West London where they already had a new set of keys for the car. Clever (not) dicky there tried keys in ignition but no joy... It won't turn. This had already been explained to them and now they totally disagree about the ignition switch possibly being wrong. Had agreement that key I had wasn't working and that they need to get a new one programmed. They now seem to have an idea that the ignition barrel is messed up and needs to be changed along with the whole ignition bit which I think is far fetched Car's history Bought few weeks back as stolen recovered vehicle. On inspection it needed the following - bumper (already sourced) - new drivers side front light (found in front boot of car) - side repeaters (sourced) - drivers side air duct/guide (sourced) - some plastic parts for bumper (grill/side trimmings - also sourced) - new car radio (sourced cdr23 and 6 CD changer but unsure if cdr23 will work with 99 boxster) best pics all advice most sincerely appreciated and respectfully will be taken and acted on Harinder
  7. folks just put in new battery as car came dead cut long story short the alarm is going crazy. I put keys in afterwards, saw lights worked, still couldn't get ignition to start so decided to close and switch off for the night she had other ideas :D now when I try and get back to normality and get into car the alarm goes crazy, have tried the remote after 5 days thing and still nothing. LED is double flashing but no chance in opening boots to reclose just in case they aren't shut properly but internal openers won't let me help - please. 9pm here in UK and will call anyone over the pond or in UK can prevent a headache!!
  8. Hi Loren Many thanks for replying. What's thrown me is that the key opens the door so working on the loose assumption that the key given would start the car. Local dealer for London (west) has quoted £150 for new key and to reprogramme the car and given what I got the car for and what it's worth this seems like a bargain (but when you add the need to put it on a truck or carrier to get it there it blurs that bargain value :D ) will ask about the key to drive - the key provided though will remain a mystery :-) reading around this is a fabulous forum. now have the confidence to change the lights, add the missing front bumper and becker cd (noted need to visit dealer to code so will do this all at same time as keys) many thanks again Harinder
  9. Hi all newbie here and have been around the site but not finding what I need. Basically purchased a stolen/recovered by police Boxster (1999, midnight blue, beige interior). now it came with one key (no buttons on it but has a Led light that doesn't come on when you press it) which opens the door, doesn't central lock i.e. locks driver door but not passenger and its party trick is when you place it in the ignition nothing happens. it stays in position 0 and will not go to 1 hence no chance of position 2 :-) Things unknown - how long its been idle and what the "other key" should look like as it looks like this is the spare key. Dealership has been contacted and it's reasonable for what they are saying for a new master key however it would be good if the key i had could start the car. any advice truly appreciated and would aid immensely Harinder
