Yesterday my 2002 boxster would not open the bonnet via the remote or open button. I managed to locate the manual bonnet release and open the bonnet that way. The bonnet release solenoid is working when the button in the car or on the key is pressed but it seems very weak in its activation and therefore is not managing to open the bonnet. I have checked the supply and it receives a healthy 12.5 volts for a split second when the button is pressed and the solenoid and latch system seem very free to move. Has anyone had this problem before? Is the solenoid broken and need replacing or is there an intermittent electrical fault? Thanks Steven

Problem solved.. Left the battery off overnight and it began working perfectly again!
