Just wondering, does a 996 hardtop for my 2002 and later fit a 997? Anyone know? Thanks.

Everything I have seen points to that. The hardtop on my 997 carries a 996 part number. I recall some discussion early on with respect to the 997 that it was a complete makeover from the 996 except for the roof. Perhaps they really did mean the hardtop roof.

Of course, you will have to spend a few bucks to install the intallation kit into your unprepared 997, unless it came with one.

My numbers range from 14 mpg (US) (when really playing) to a bit over 24 mpg,--when on a highway and not starting and stopping. Cruise set at 70 mph. This, with a VERY full cabrio and h/top.

A fairly simple solution is to avoid the fuse box entirely but probe for a wire leading from it to 'borrow' switched power. Use a straight pin and a multimeter to learn which have switched power and which are on all the time. DO NOT go anywhere near any YELLOW wires--as they are to air bags. Any perceived oltage drop will fire these off.

I chose a fairly thick black wire that lead from the top of the fuse box assembly for my V1 source. Do a search on Rennlist for my "Another V1 Intallation."

These are unnecessary on the 997 cars.

So, gang - what the H#ll is up with the C4S? I've heard several things:

1.) Since the 997 C4 / C4S is not a full "turbo-look" car, buyers aren't that excited about it

2.) The C2 / C2S is _so_ good that most people are reluctant to spend the extra $$$ on a "4".

It seems that this can only be good for me, right? :thumbup:

Question #1 of 2: any guesses on what I can expect in terms of a discount? If the dealer's sales manager was willing to drop $4,500-5,000 on a $94k list C2S, am I a fool to expect 9-10% on this "special" car?

BTW - I'm willing to walk if they don't meet my needs. I have promised this dealership first shot at selling me the car, and they will be doing all of my service regardless of where I buy it. I'm not looking for a "fair" deal - I'm looking for the absolute lowest price.

January in the Midwest is not a popular 911 sales period.

Question #2 of 2: any idea on holdbacks (if any) on these cars? PCNA is pretty tight with that data, as you might imagine...

I have heard that the C2S is so good with the PASM that the 4-wheel version is truly overkill. Ordering a C2S in cab form, I just couldn't give up the meager trunk space at all plus I like a little driving challenge, having driven 911s through the 70s, 80s, 90s...

The noise abatement issue is unique to Switzerland, alone. But, unfortunately, it drives the entire configuration.

The exclusion of this mod from the NA market is not a ride height issue at all. It is more of a function of the American road conditions and American driver experience factor.

Sadly. Porsche AG won't officially allow it (when you order the car for North America).

Bumper heights have not been a factor with DOT in several years.
