  1. I went to E3 here in L.A. Convention Center and guess what... from Pixar Studio display 996 for their upcoming new movie "Cars"

I wonder if thie 996 can drive by it self... ummmmm... ;)

cool. what are the rest of the cars?- looks like a Viper, a tow truck and a Plymouth Road runner?

I actually spoke to a Disney Rep. today about some cross promotions for the movie and he told me that Porsche is the only manufacture to be promoted by name. The other cars will have a likeness but will not be mentioned by name or have badging.

  2. Hi,

While parking my 2002 Targa this evening, I noticed that the tiptronic display was showing both 2nd gear and reverse gear at the same time. Changing between drive and reverse also seemed a bit clunkier than normal.

Is this normal - and I haven't noticed it before or does it indicate a problem?

Thanks for your help. The targa has around 25,000km and is used as a daily driver only.

    Derek

I have a 996 Tip and had a Boxster Tip and that never happened to me, I do not think it is normal. I would get it checked out...is it still under warranty?

  3. I am looking at an 02-03 c2 coupe and see no real difference except the year, both are equipted the same and same miles, also both are Porche certified, the 02 is 5K less in $ It seems a no brainer to go with the 02 Any feedback is appreciated

Will you get an extra year of warranty with the 03? I would just check to see when they are up. If you got an extra 12 or 18 months it may bring them closer to the same price, in which case resale should also be taken into consideration.

  4. I am a new member and new 996 owner. I recently sold my 944 and Boxster and just purchased a 2002 996 Cab on Thursday. I had a 300 mile trip home so I can say that I have put some miles on it since I bought it; however, I have not done much since. I plan to autocross this vehilce and I can't wait. I have been going through the owner's manual and a couple of questions came up and I could use some help.

1- It appears that my 17 inch wheels are from a 993. The rears have the proper offset; however, I am concerned about the fronts. They are 17X7.5 with an offset of 65mm. The manual says 17X7 with 50mm. I am not sure how to convert but I do not think that these wheels are correct. No problems that I have seen...they just clears the calipers, not much room. I could not see any spacers either. What do you think?

2-Has anyone had the roll bars pop up from an autocross or DE? If so, is it a big deal or not?

    Thanks for all your help!
