  1. Good Info! Thanks Jeff. I do still have the original Cluster.. I will pull out the new one and check the part numbers with the ones Loren Supplied.. Changing out the the parts doesn't look to difficult or is it?
  2. Well I will try to refill then disconnect the battery... Tool Pants so there are 2 different part numbers for a C2 or C4? Anyone know the part numbers for the C2 or C4?
  3. I recently switched out my cluster for one with aluminum dials.. I didn't have time to take it to the dealer to get re-programmed for the miles.. so I switched it myself.. While I was at the Concours in Monterey I had a 1/4 of tank left and almost ran out of gas.. So obviously the new cluster's gauge is a little off. I recall there is a way that the dealer can change the gauge from going through the first half of the tank faster then the last half of the tank.. (which is how mine currently is) Is there a setting in the cluster programmed by the dealer? Going through the 2nd tank of gas was the same scenario, I filled up at 1/4 of tank.. and it was really on E Any thoughts?
  4. Thanks Jeff!! It seemed to work for me.. hope others can benefit... just don't come looking for me if you burn your dash :cursing:
  5. Ok here is the deal with removing these things..... 1. First you must remove Both AC Vents, and the Upper Center Console... The strips are held in from screws behind the dash, but reaching them is a waist of time! 2. The 2 small strips will pop out with some force, just take a flat head screwdriver and tap it in behind the strip. The screws will pop out from the back of the dash... The dash is a hard plastic material and the screw heads are small so they will come right through the dash.. 3. The long piece across the passanger side was fun... Tape the dash will several pieces of tape to protect the dash in case you slip. These pieces have 2 layers to them.. take a flat head screwdriver and open the top part of the stip.. It will look like this once you peel off the top layer..you can see the top of the scew holes after you peel off the top layer Now my stereo installer had the next idea.. he took a small soldering gun like this... and heated up the head of the screw that is seen from the top side.. this made the area around the screw soft, and then I took the screwdriver behind the remaining strip and pried it right off.. it broke off to every screw head.. we just did this right along and 10 minutes later it was all out.. Be sure to not get the solder gun to close the the leather.. just keep it on for about 30 seconds.. it really is helpful if one guy holds the solder gun while the other removes the strip. The top piece is the stripped piece.. the bottom is the whole piece that was pulled out from the middle. Installing the new pieces was simple, a little silicone behind them helped the stay in place but its not needed..

  7. I think I read that the battery needs to be disconnected so the airbag light doesn't go on? Also when the dealer transfer the milage over..does he do that with the computer PST2 from the port, or does he hook something up to the actual cluster?
  8. I just pulled off the doors sills as well.. just used a tool to get under it.. then it just kinda broke off and pulled off.. it wasn't pretty..
  9. Hey Glad to see you made it here!!! Loren's board is definite asset to the Porsche community!! Enjoy!
  10. Well I moved it... the easiest way to to it is remove the side panels on the console. that makes it easier to get the wires.. Also you need the new cover that goes around the AC control unit.. $5 part #996 552 339 00 No other brackets are needed.. there is actually 2 holes for the AC unit to screw into this location.
  11. Thanks Don!! Some other tips for you guys... get one of those kitchen sponges..one side yellow the other side a rug green material.. Apply the acholol to that and it comes off a lot easier.. It didn't leave much of that white film as did with just using a towel.. Also I had some old black wax.. the kind that is used to touch up paint chips.. its kind of a ink type of wax.. this blacken it back nicely and then I applied some tire dressing for a nice finish.... just my $.02
  12. Problem solved.. for anyone that may encounter this... here is a tip.. When you remove the door panel make sure that this wire (see picture) is not behind a hole where a screw goes in :) The wire in between the 2 screw holes at the top got spliced causing the alarm to lock then unlock, and also left the interior lights on the whole time..
  13. Just had a aftermarket stereo system installed and after it was all put in we tried the factory alarm and it locked then unlocked a second later! Also the interior lights won't shut off and using the manual lock on the dash does not work... We removed the factory deck and amp... we grounded the wire that was connected to the amp but that was useless... It seems that it is sensing that something is open.. when everything is closed.. The aftermarket alarm does the same thing... locks then unlocks.. Has anyone had this problem?
  14. So what is the best solution for this? What chemicals won't harm the visor?
  15. Loren, I'm moving the AC control from here.. to here.. I just wanted to be sure the dealer order the right bracket... and is ther anything else needed for this move?
  16. Hey Chris!! Doing good.. just trying to stay cool!! you must be busy pulling teeth.. haven't seen you around lately.. Are you enjoying your new toy?
  17. You were correct.. I am removing both the storage comapartment and the sills... Great thanks again for the info.. No need for a hair dryer in Fresno its 105 already :cursing:
  18. Loren, I was able to remove the piece that holds the umbrella.. but the entry gaurd with the Carrera writing was not coming out.. In the middle there was a little slot where you could get under it.. I pulled pretty good but quit before I screwed something up....Im replacing it so if it does break its no biggy... just thought you or Tool Pants may have a tip before I yank away again!!
  19. Loren, Do you have a PDF on removing the entry gaurds and the little storage compartment where the umbrella goes? Drivers and passanger side. Thanks!
  20. Just bought the Factory Cupholders part number 000-044-801-91.. Is there a how to on installing.. it looks like a Rubics Cube :)
  21. Wow those are Cool!! Any chance they will do a red & Clear one for the Cayenne?
  22. Ahh yes... pulling the seat all the forward makes it simple to get to.. perfect thanks Loren!
