When There is less load through the throttle it is slightly louder and under deceleration.
-
It sounds like it is coming from under the console area. It's fainter at slower speeds like (5mph) and gets very high pitched around 30-50mph. Are there any mechanisms under the shifter area that could cause such a sound or other fans motors in that area. It also sounds like a chirpish tea kettle.
-
I took a video of the sound but either it's too big to upload or I don't know how to do it.
FYI, the blower fan has already been replace a while back. It only has 59,000 miles on it.The sounds happens with blower motor on or off though.

I have a 06 CTT and I noticed that I hear a high pitch tea kettle sound while driving. It starts around 50mph and up but seams to stop once brakes are appalled. It sounds like it comes from inside the cabin around the middle area (hard to tell). I placed it in neutral while driving and no change, so I'm not thinking drive line area. Doesn't change pitch when I rev the engine and only seems to start once the engine is warm or car itself is warm. Any ideas what it could be?
I did replace only the front brake pads last weekend, fyi.
-
I just read this the other day but it tells you how to wash the engine in the owners manual. I would have never thought it would mention that but it's in there.

I did test the actuator with a battery buy touching it quickly on the prongs and it pumped in and out so, I leaning as to what you said above.
Thanks as always!

Anyone have any ideas? I have checked the fuses under the hood and both left and right sides on the dash. The switched out the actuator and still same effect (the actuator will lock the fuel door but not unlock, with the door lock or remote). Tricky!
-
You can check youtube if you haven't already.
-
Sounds like it could be an a/c issue?
-
Mine is a 2006 cayenne turbo if it matters.

Not sure i follow you 100%.
The door can only be opened when you use the switch on the door. If that fails then you can pull the safety cord.
You should be able to put a volt meter up on the wires and get someone to hit the switch to see if you have power to the solenoid. After checking the fuse of course. If no power then it could be your door switch isn't working.
There are no switches to open my fuel door as you have listed in picture #2. Mine only unlocks with the remote or door unlock. I problem is that the actuator isn't pulling the metal rod back to allow the fuel door to pop open once you push in on it. When I lock it, everything works fine. I have to do the emergency pull for the actuator to move on both the old and the new parts.
-
Found out that the door does not unlock the actuator neither but will lock it as the remote does.
-
So I remove my old fuel door actuator (pin) because the unlock button on the remote would only lock door but on not unlock it. I replaced it with new one and will be doing a DIY on it also. The same problem is still happening with the new part. Why would the electrical current only seem to have the actuator move in one direction only?
Thanks in advance!

Got the part, now I nee help on removing the CD changer to get to it. Any advice? I will do a DIY for the fuel door actuator once I get going with it.
Thanks in advance!

I have a 2006 Cayenne Turbo and am needing the part number for the fuel door actuator.
It will lock the fuel door easily but will not unlock with remote or door switch thus I am unable to pop the door out. I have to use the emergency pull band to unlock it every time it's Gas time.
Thanks,

Cayenne Turbo Battery Removal DIY
These are the steps I took to change out my very heavy Battery. I have seen this done on a VW on YouTube but I wanted to start giving my two cents since I'm a newbie at this. I hope this helps someone else. 1. Hook up a battery charger to keep a flow of current to the electronics. Memory loss otherwise. 2.This is what I purchased from AutoZone. about $190 for the battery with some felt pads, grease and the triple square bits. 3. Move the front drivers set back and fin

So I see 18ZL on left front and L on left rear. I see 18ZR on right front and R on right rear. I didn't 17 on the rears anywhere and I get the whole L and R on the calipers but I'm trying to find out if the MM because I haven't seen any 18" rotors listed as 457.2MM. Maybe I just have no clue what the hell I am doing, LOL. When searching to purchase some rotors the sites talk about 330mm, 350mm, 380mm. Just trying to make sure I order the correct sizes.
Thanks
For your car:
350 mm fronts
330 mm rears
Perfect, thank you.

So, is that like 350mm for front and 330mm for rear or maybe something else?

What are the mm size if the front rotor is 18ZL (350?) and rear rotors on a 2006 Cayenne Turbo? VIn# WP1AC29P96LA90598
Thanks in advance!
That VIN has the following options factory installed:
I1KZ -- Rear disc brakes - disc diameter 17 inches, brake caliper painted red
I1LM -- Front disc brake - disc diameter 18 inches, brake caliper painted red

I have the same issue on mine - going to change the actuator soon (ordered it today). I still haven't quite figured out how to get the boot right interior panel out (the one around the CD changer)
Do you remember the part number?
-
It is just a solenoid - so either it has power or it doesn't. cay_fuel_door.png
Can the solenoid work in only one direction. Mine will lock with remote but unlock will not move it to unlock. I have to manually pull it. Do you think it might just need cleaned?
Thanks in advance
High Pitch tea kettle sound while driving
in 9PA, 9PA1 (Cayenne, Cayenne S, Cayenne Turbo, Cayenne Turbo S)
Posted
I hear it the loudest and clearest at the very back part of the armrest section going straight down from there. It just seems to me that the wine / squeal should vary in pitch with the driveshaft if it was the bearing. The sounds stays fairly constant. Can I send you the video I recorded via email?
