I had similar symptoms with my 2000 boxster but the codes were 1128 and 1130,so this may not help you but it did fix my issues.

I will add that I replaced the MAF twice with no success until I read that the fuel filter could be the issue.

Well, I replaced the fuel filter, the MAF and added Techron to the gas then I cleared all the faulty codes, disconnected the battery for 5 minutes and started the car, It coughed for a few times then started fine...I have to add that it has been really cold here in Colorado so I was expecting a rough start. I drove the car today (Dec 13) to work with no issues and no error codes. I learned that provably the gas filter was not allowing enough gas to start the car in cold. Cheers

:notworthy: i found the DIY on the auto transmission fill up. i got in the transmission about 5 1/2 quarts, a few more to go but the weather is no cooperating ( 34F denver...it was colder last night like 15F) thanks

It is my assumtion that you check the transmission fluid level with the engine running and the transmission at temperature....Am I right on this?

Reading through the responses I see ACEA A3/B4 and A-40 rating.

So , I found Liqui Moly "made in germany" 5W-40 ACEA A3/B4 porsche A-40 rating $ 37.xx at the part store.

2000 2.7 Boxster

Hi All,

I just purchased my first and used 2000 2.7 prosche boxster..I have learned that buying a used car could be an intersting adventure since most previous owner will tell you that the maintenance was done always and on time.

Especially with motor oil changes....was the right oil grade, specs, bla and bla?

Now the manual mentions: API SH -SJ OR 1LSACGF 1? 10W-40 OR 5W-40?

I may be familiar with the 10w-40's and 5w-40's but not so much with API ...

How important are this specs? ...meaning API SH - SJ for a Boxster engine

The autoparts stores here in Denver sell most commons with and API SM,SN, etc
