  1. Last week I ordered a cup holder retrofit for my 1999 996. Excited to complete the install, I jumped on it this morning. Removed the lower and upper console to make the install and rerouting of climate control wires easier. I DISCONNECTED THE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE PRIOR TO starting the repair.

    I buttoned up the work and went to start the car, ignition is locked (key won't turn, gear shifter (Tiptronic) won't move), light in the trunk is out.

    I only have radio. When I disconnect/reconnect the battery I hear the cd changer initiate and I can turn the radio on and off, it appears to work fine once I enter the security code.

    Guys, what in the world could I have done to kill the power to the car?
