  1. I'm getting a CEL, checked the codes at Autozone noew and it came out as P0300 (random misfire) I had a tune up, coils and plugs changed at the dealer back in November along with all fluids. Last weekend installed a new battery too. This morning I got the CEL, my bro says it's most likely bad gas as I had it parked since end of January as I was overseas. He suggests, fill up the tank, clear the codes, drive it for 20-30 miles and then see how it goes before another trip to the dealer, he said it worked for his Bimmer. Good advice?? and How do I clear the codes, disconnect the battery??

By the way it's an '02 with no mods.

  2. you can't save a dead battery. you didn't post the MY or model of your car so if it is 03+ you will not have to save radio codes as they are stored in the DME. if <03, you can try the cig lighter plug-in to save the codes. you should keep your new battery on a maintainer as well.

It's an '02. I'll keep it the cig-lighter charger plugged in as long as there is no harm to the car. Is there anything I should watch out for while changing the battery with the maintainer plugged in? TIA

  3. I haven't driven my car for about 3 weeks and forgot to put it on the battery maintainer charger, I tried it yesterday and it won't fire up, just hear a clicking noise and then lights flicker, my battery is 4 years old and I drive the car bi-weekly when I'm home, I think it's the battery, am I correct in my assessment? Can I use the battery charger/maintainer to fully charge the battery? Or should I just jump the car?

  4. Does it continue to blow smoke?

If so, do a search here for AOS repairs and also have a look at the oil filler tube. Both are plastic and will eventually break.

So I went to Autozone today and got the codes read, they won't reset them though. Here's what they found P0300, P0301, P0304. Can someone tell me what's the problem, how severe and what's the fix with estimated cost please? Thanks.

  5. or are they feeding a bunch of BS. I took my car in to the dealer today and while I was there asked them to check on any issues before the warranty is out
