Wow. Great thread. Just read the whole thing as I have an 08 CTT with similar issues. Found a few broken vacuum parts and replaced, but still similar issues.

Maybe it a short in the wiring. Start tracing wires back and check with a continuity tester.

I believe these are sealed bearings and can't be serviced.

Sounds like an issue with the headlight if there is no error when disconnected. Order a new light from the dealer and see if you still get the error. Return it if you still get the error with the new one. Or find some that would swap you headlights to try it out.

Do they try and self adjust when you turn the key on? Mine try and level each time I turn the car on and the headlights are on. Check all the fuses. Disconnect one side and see if the problem is still there? Try and isolate it to one headlight. Other than that might need a pwis.

That's a good suggestion as well. That's where I put my top up oil. How about hydraulic fluid from the power lift gate?

Does the AC still work? Freon gas has oil in it and there would be a run to the back condenser.

Fixed this today. 08 CTT. Didn't get the codes yet, but was having some rough idle that I thought was vacuum issues. Mine didn't have the silver pump. Maybe it was moved for the 08 version.

The idle will fluctuate alittle when the brake vacuum pump (the silver colour metal unit located behind the right bank air cleaner box) is activated because it's an electrical load. I think the test for the servo leak is to switch off ignition and pump pedal it should go hard after 3-5 pumps, then start engine with foot on pedal and feel it drop as the pump increases servo vacuum again. If the pedal drops but won't stop ie it get buried in the floor then their is an issue.
There are some post here about the piping from the vacuum pump being split and warning messages popping up. See below was a good one.
The one in the link was the one leaking. Added some silicone, tape and wire ties until I can order new hoses next week. Thanks again.

I have a similar issue, but can't find the leak. I assume vacuum as the brake pedal after sitting for short period would still be soft and now it's hard. Also when at idle if you hit the brake a few times to use vacuum the idle will fluctuate. Going to try and use a fogger to find the leak.

Why not just fix it properly?

Does someone have the updated procedure for the 2008?
Mine was a little different with the coolant hoses in the way. Also changing the tensioner pulley.
