  1. My window problem was also caused by the top latch not pushing deep enough into the whole to fully depress the switch. I have no idea how this has happened but I have solved it temporarily by inserted a small piece of cardboard into the hole before the latch is closed. This pushes the switch an extra couple of millimetres and enables the windows to be closed. A bodge, i know, but its just a temporary solution before I take it in to Porsche.

What was the long term fix for this?

  2. after piddling with it for a little while i can push my finger in where the hook goes...there is a little button and if i push it far in it will close...when the hook is in it seems like its not pushing that switch/button all the way or as far as it needs to go. hmm.... i guess i'll have to take it apart and see about adjusting it. for now i have a piece of paper stuck in there for it to shut..haha

I just started running into this exact issue. Did you find a fix? Appreciate any insight.

  3. Your car currently has the heated seat option and you are asking how to get the heating mechanism from one seat to the other? The heating elements are molded into the seat foam. This pad (or foam) actually has two different part numbers. One for heat, and one without. So the key to heating the seats themselves is in the pad. The standard and sport seats are different shapes, so I would be very suprised if the pads were the same. That said, you could buy the sport seat pads with heat (assuming that was ever an option) and have them swapped by an upholstery shop.

This all assumes that you want to maintain factory-style seat heating. There are aftermarket solutions, they will not appear or operate as stock.

FYI-My experience is with the Boxster, but it shares the same section of PET with the 996 and most information and parts are the same. More info on heated seats are on my site.
