Hi i have a 2000 986 boxster and about 2 months ago i was driving when the abs light came on and speedometer went out, I ordered a new wheel speed sensor when I realized the connector housing where the speed sensor plugs into was crumbling, so i returned the speed sensor and i guess when inspecting the connector housing it crumbled even more enough to where it was now giving the tip no speed signal so when in gear it would barely move even at high rpms (tip limp mode) so i got that replaced, reset the battery and it was driving great, then about a day later i got greedy and went to get the muffler deleted, dropped it off at the exhaust shop and when i went to pick it up it sounded great but was driving sluggishly and by the time i made it to the exit of the parking lot the shop is at it started doing the flashing d 4 limp mode, so i turned around and restarted it, still sluggish and then d4 came on again so i reset the battery since i heard welding with the battery connected still (which i think he did) can cause arc flashes through the chassis, messing up the signal to the transmission until you reset the transmission. Long story short that did not do the trick it only made it worse, now its back to how it was originally when i had the abs wire harness issue (barely moves even at high rpms (also tip limp mode)) i looked under the car but didnt notice any cut or melted wires/ ground straps, but will look again. I think him welding with the battery connected still originally caused it to mess with the transmissions values and disconnecting and reconnecting the battery only further reset the transmission values/adaptations but im not really sure what my next step is, im in vegas and the mechanics out here are insanely expensive and I usually end up having to diagnose the issue myself via the forums or google anyways so i'd like to figure this out without having to call a mechanic or at least if I do I'd greatly appriciate if anyone knows an honest mechanic who is well versed in porsche systems, thanks in advance for the help.
