Boxster AVIC F900BT Sound problem

Recommended Posts

I have just installed a F900BT in 1999 Boxster 2.5

However i'm not getting any sound from the door speakers.

I've got the harness and double DIN kit from Euro Motorspeed

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...52BSI%26otn%3D4

and followed the wiring diagrams posted on the Rentech forum

http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...616&hl=avic

Everything else seams to be working fine. I have tested the speaker with my Becker traffic pro and and the speakers work fine with that.

I tried to swap over the Purple and green RCA cable to the White and grey ones and still no sound. (Harness A)

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Haf,

First of all, thank you for your purchase! We just returned from a short trip to Orlando so I apologize for the delayed response. We had a few others Porsche owners that have the same setup (Becker Traffic Pro) as yours & had the same issue & we had no trouble getting it resolved. Please private message your phone # & we can help you trouble shoot. In addition, please take some pictures & post them so that we can help others as well.

Thanks Trieullionaire.

Your kit is fantastic! I'm very pleased with the fit and the setter plate made the install a breeze.

As for the sound problem, I think I found out what it is, apparently the door speakers on the Boxster are subwoofers not rear speakers as I had first thought, (the ones on the dash being Front speakers) but somebody might know why the AVIC F900 doesn't sound as good as the Becker Traffic pro using the same factory speakers and amp on the 1999 Boxster.

I don't have the rear speakers behind the seats in the storage compartment. Thinking of getting the kit to improve the sound.

What puzzled me was when I had my old Becker unit in the car. I'm sure the door speakers sounded more than just a woofer!! with more range.

I would be interested to know how you overcame the problems of other Traffic pro owners, just incase it's some thing I can do.

Cheers

Haf,

I'm glad everything worked out for you! Here is a wiring diagram for "Harness B", this will aid you when you're ready to install the Porsche OEM rear speaker kit. We have a detailed 13 pages photo step by step installation instructions that I can post if anyone is interested.
