Can I solder CAN network wire? 996 cluster update

HI

I´m installing the CAN wires for later model instrument cluster 2003 to my MY99 cabrio (US model).I have the new blue, grey and black plugs for the new cluster, and there is small part of wires still left on them.

Can I solder the CAN network wires? I already tried just to splice the two twisted wires to an extension wires, but my Durametric gives an CAN error.

I´d be gratefull if somebody could explain, why the wires are twisted together.

Wires are paired and twisted together to reduce any cross talk and the chance of interference building in the harness. You should be able to solder the wires.
